Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via a slight ramp.
  • There are two entrances into the building. The main entrance provides step-free access via a ramp and double automatic doors. The second entrance provides stepped access via a single manual door.
  • The main entrance is signed as Rutherford Annexe.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the ground floor.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are carpeted.
  • There are resting areas in the ground floor lobby area with a mixture of seating .
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors permanently held open along circulation routes throughout the building.

Toilet and Changing Facilities

    • There is 1 toilet with adaptations.
    • The toilet with adaptations is located directly beyond the main entrance on the ground floor.
    • All toilets with adaptations have a left hand transfer space.
    • Ambulant toilet facilities are located in the corridors on the ground and first floors.
    • The male and female step-free standard toilet facilities are located in the corridors on the ground and first floors.

Parking (Rutherford Car Park)

    • The car park is located off Darwin Road and outside Rutherford College and Annex.
    • The car park is open air/surface.
    • The car park surface consists of tarmac.
    • There are 3 designated Blue Badge parking bays available.
    • The Blue Badge bays are clearly marked and signposted.

Entrance

  • The entrance area is clearly signed.
  • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.

  • The ramp is between 75cm and 150cm wide with handrails on both sides.
  • The ramp bypasses the steps.
  • There are 5 steps with handrails on both sides.
  • The handrails are easy to grip.
  • The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
  • The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
  • The steps are clearly marked.

Toilet with Adaptations (Ground Floor - Left Hand Transfer)
