Getting Here (Getting to the Stacey Building)

  • By Road View
    • The building is just to the north of the central Canterbury campus, which is approximately 1 mile north of Canterbury City Centre.
      The building is in a pedestrianised area north of Giles Lane, close to the Sports Centre and Ingram Building.
      The car parks are off Park Wood Road which is reached via University Road and the A290 Whitstable Road.
    • There is parking close by on Sports Centre Road and to the rear of the Sports Centre.
      A University Pink or Blue Parking Permit, Accessible Parking Permit or Blue Badge is required to park in Sports Centre Road but visitors can park to the rear of the Sports Centre.

  • By Bus View
    • There are frequent Unibus services linking the University campus with the centre of Canterbury and Canterbury East and West train stations.
      The nearest bus stops are on Giles Lane or Park Wood Road.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is Canterbury West, to the north of the city centre.
      This is on the line from London to Kent, including Ashford International.
      There is step-free access into the station building.
      There is step-free access to both platforms by lift.
      Staff are available to assist with portable ramps between the platform and the train.
      There are buses linking the city centre with the University campus, with stops about 5 minutes away from the station.

    • Restrictions on parking are from 8am Monday to 5pm Friday. Blue Badge holders must also have a valid virtual University permit.
    • There are 4 Blue Badge bays shown in photographs 4-7. Two bays have a marked area on both sides and rear, one has them on both sides and one has a marked area only on one side. The areas are all over 120cm.
    • There are dropped kerbs are by the 3 of the 4 Blue Badge Bays onto the pavement. There is tactile paving by the dropped kerbs and by the pedestrian crossing at the top of the car park. This is shown in photographs 8-10.

    • Enforcement hours are 8am Monday to 5pm Friday.

    • This entrance/ exit is opposite the Sports Centre. The automatic door at the main entrance provides easier access at time of survey (December 2021) as this door wasn't working perfectly and did not open very easily.

    • The rear/ top entrance is via the bridge between the Ingram and Stacey Building. Therefore, this has ramped access and is shown in photograph 2. The push-pad to enter is 70cm high and to exit 102cm high.
    • There are moveable tables 70cm high for those in the designated seating at the front as shown in photograph 3.

Lecture Theatre(s) (Stacey Lecture Theatre 2)
