Introduction

  • Services / facilities within the building include the 62-seat screening room which is part of the Drama and Film Studies Department.
    It is used for the screening of films for students and also films made by students.
    The building is only staffed when in use.
    It is not generally open to the public.
    Pedestrian access is from the car park at the rear of Grimond Building or from the main pedestrianised area in central campus.
    The building shares the Grimond Building car parking spaces.
    The Blue Badge bays are 50 metres from the Lupino Screening Room.

Getting Here (Getting to the Lupino Screening Room)

  • By Road View
    • The building is in the central part of the Canterbury Campus, which is approximately 1 mile north of Canterbury City Centre.
      It can be accessed via Giles Lane or University Road which connects with the A290 Whitstable Road.
      The building can be reached from the pedestrianised central campus area.
    • The nearest car park for Blue Badge holders and university Pink zone permit holders is Grimond Car Park to the rear of the building or Eliot Car Park to the south.
      Central Car Park is within 200 metres for visitors (non-permit holders).
  • By Bus View
    • There are frequent Unibus services linking the University campus with the centre of Canterbury and Canterbury East and West train stations.
      The nearest bus stops are on Giles Lane.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station is Canterbury West, to the north of the city centre.
      This is on the line from London to Kent, including Ashford International.
      There is step-free access into the station building.
      There is step-free access to both platforms by lift.
      Staff are available to assist with portable ramps between the platform and the train.
      There are buses linking the city centre with the University campus, with stops approximately 5 minutes away from the station.

    • The accessible route from car park to central campus is around the side of the Gulbunkian Theatre. It is slightly sloped and shown in photograph 6.

    • To gain access to the surrounding buildings step-free you have to follow the access road round the Locke Building onto the pedestrian footpath in central campus. The road is sloped and uneven.
    • There are no dropped kerbs within the carpark. The route to Student and Staff Asymptomatic Testing building to the closest Blue Badge bay is 175m using a flight of steps.
