Visitor Car Park to Bollards

  • Exit the Visitor Car Park via a path on the left side of the car park by the Blue Badge bay.

Bollards to Cut Through Lane Crossing

  • There is planting and a raised kerb on the left and right for 5 meters.

  • Continue along this path for 32 meters after which the gradient changes to a steep downhill towards Cherry Tree Hill.

Cherry Tree Hill Crossing

  • The crossing across Cherry Tree Hill is unmarked.

  • Traffic comes from the left and right.

Cherry Tree Hill to Trent Building

  • After crossing Cherry Tree Hill turn left.

  • The path is an easy upwards slope.
  • After 17 meters the surface changes to concrete paving.
  • There are bollards on the left and support structure on the right.
  • Continue ahead for 2 meters and then turn right towards the entrance to the New Theatre.

  • Continue on the downwards slope for a further 7 meters before turning right.

  • Continue along the path for 11 meters before taking the right hand fork of the path.

  • The slope changes to an easy upwards slope for 33 meters.
  • There is grass and planting on both sides of the path.

Trent Building to East Drive Rainbow Crossing

  • On entering the Trent Building continue ahead for 3 meters to the lift on the right.

  • On exiting the lift turn right.
  • The surface is tiles which changes to carpet.
  • Continue ahead for 10 meters to the exit doors.
  • The doors are double automatic doors.
  • The width of the doors is 135cm.
  • On exiting the building continue ahead for 10 meters into the Trent Building Courtyard.
  • Turn left and head towards the archway leading to the East Exit.
  • There is a bollard in the middle of the path at the exit.
  • The bollard is 66cm high and the distance between the bollard and the walls is 124cm on the left and 113cm on the right.
  • After passing the bollards turn right after 5 meters.
  • The path goes on the right hand side of the car park.
  • The surface of the path is paving slabs which are uneven in places.
  • After 5 meters turn left and continue for a further 15 meters before turning left and then right after another 2 meters.
  • The path narrows to 135cm at this point.
  • Follow the path for 5 meters until the surface changes to tarmac.
  • Continue ahead for 16 meters.
  • The path is now an easy downwards slope.
  • After 16 meters there is a dropped kerb with tactile paving on the left.
  • After 23 meters the path widens out to a seating area on the right and a dropped kerb with tactile paving leading to a crossing on the left.
  • Continue past the crossing and down the slope for 56 meters to a bench seat on the right and a rainbow crossing on the left.

Rainbow Crossing

Rainbow Crossing to Portland Building South East Accessible Entrance

Outside Access (South East Entrance - Accessible)

    • There is a slope with a very easy incline.

Alternative Route

  • There is an option to access the Portland Building via a steep ramp instead of going through the Trent Building.
  • After crossing Cherry Tree Hill continue down the path for 42 meters to the ramp.
  • The slope is a steep downhill slope with Cherry Tree Lodge on the right and Portland Building on the left.
  • The start of the ramp is at the end of the path.
  • The ramp is a steep downhill with a resting place after 13 meters.
  • The ramp has handrails on both side at a height of 97cm with a lower handrail at 59cm.
  • At the resting place take the ramp on the left.
  • The ramp is a steep downhill slope.
  • On exiting the ramp there are steps on the left with tactile paving.
  • Turn left after the steps and follow the path around the front of the Portland Building leading to the Portland Building Retail Zone entrance.
