Access Guide
Introduction
- This route is from bus stops M and N on the south side of Broad Street (for buses from the city centre) and bus stop X on the north side of Broad Street (for buses from Pendlebury), to the Allerton Building side entrance.
- This route is approximatley 200m from the furthest bus stop and should take around 3 minutes to walk. .
- The main hazard for this route is a traffic light controlled crossing of a busy road.
Bus Stops M and N
- These bus stops have a tarmac and brick block paving surface.
- The bus shelters here have seats available.
Bus Stops M and N to the Crossing
- On alighting from a bus, turn right and follow the path to the crossing.
- This path has a block paving and tarmac surface with an easy slope up.
Crossing Broad Street West Bound
- There is a pelican crossing here with a button 107cm high.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides.
- The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope up to the central reservation.
Central Reservation
- Turn right when you get to the central reservation.
- This area has an uneven tarmac surface.
Crossing Broad Street East Bound
- There is a pelican crossing here with buttons 107cm high.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides.
- The road has a tarmac surface with an easy slope to the right.
Past the Crossing
- After the crossing, take the path to the left and then to the right.
- These paths have a tarmac then a block paving surface, with moderate slopes.
- At the top of the slopes there are bollards, 152cm wide, leading into the Allerton Building Side Courtyard.
Bus Stop X
- This bus stop has a block paving surface.
- The bus shelters here have seats available.
Bus Stop X to the Allerton Building Side Courtyard
- On alighting from a bus, turn left past the shelter then right to the bollards which are 162cm wide.
- Beyond the bollards the path has a block paving surface which is uneven with easy slops.
- This leads to further bollards, 156cm wide, beyond which the slope becomes moderate leading up to the courtyard.
- At the top of this slope there are more bollards, 152cm wide, leading into the courtyard.
Allerton Building Side Courtyard
- The courtyard has a brick block paving surface, with easy slopes throughout, including in front of the side entrance.

- This information is for the entrance located on the far side of the Allerton Building Side Courtyard.
