Outside Access (Main Entrance - Automatic)

  • Entrance View

MySurrey Hive to Lecture Theatre Block Senate House Side Entrance

  • Upon exiting the MySurrey Hive in the Philip Marchant Building via the main entrance - automatic, turn right and take the steep ramp up towards the Lecture Theatre Block.
  • There is a handrail on the right hand side of the ramp.
  • At the top of the ramp, the Lecture Theatre Block Senate House Side Entrance is diagonally to your right.
  • The distance is approximately 30m and the surface is concrete slabs.

Outside Access (Senate House Side Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located at the rear of the building.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • A key card is required for access at this entrance.
    • The height of the card reader/lock is 115cm (3ft 9in).
    • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are single.
    • The width of the door opening is 202cm (6ft 8in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of less than 2cm.
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 145cm (4ft 9in).
  • Ramp/Slope View

Access Through the Lecture Theatre Block

  • After entering the Lecture Theatre Block, turn left and follow the corridor until the end.
  • Turn right and procced towards the double automatic doors that open away from you.
  • The surface is mostly vinyl with some areas that are carpet.
  • The distance is approximately 30m.

    • A key card is required for access at this entrance.
    • The height of the card reader/lock is 106cm (3ft 6in).
    • There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 162cm (5ft 4in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of less than 2cm.
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically (towards you).
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 147cm (4ft 10in).
  • Ramp/Slope View

    • This entrance only has step-free access if you head through the Learning Centre from the road and then down the steep ramp to the doors (photograph 6). Every other route has various steps.

Lecture Theatre Block to Learning Centre 24 Hour Entrance

  • Upon exiting the Lecture Theatre Block, head diagonally to the right towards the ramp to bypass the steps.
  • The ramp is steep with no handrails.
  • At the top of the ramp turn left and proceed towards the towards the Learning Centre 24 Hour Entrance.
  • The distance is approximately 35m and the surface is concrete slabs.

Outside Access (24 Hour Entrance)

    • This information is for the entrance located opposite the Lewis Carroll and Frank Whittle buildings.
    • There is ramped/sloped or stepped access at this entrance.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 152cm (4ft 12in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
  • Second Set of Doors View
    • There is a second set of doors.
    • The door(s) open(s) automatically.
    • The door(s) is / are double.
    • The width of the door opening is 152cm (4ft 12in).
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.

  • After entering the Learning Centre, proceed ahead past the stairs and lift on your right hand side.
  • The cashpoint is located in between the entrance to the Simply Fresh Shop and the main entrance to the Learning Centre.
  • The distance is approximately 20m and the surface is tiles and carpet.
  • The height of the cashpoint screen is 114cm.
  • The height of the cashpoint buttons are 94cm.
