Location of Toilet/Changing Facilities

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • Chelsea College of Arts is located on John Islip Street, just off Vauxhall Bridge Road in Chelsea, Central London.
    • There is no parking available on the College site. There is limited metered car parking in streets alongside the college on Atterbury Street and John Islip Street. There is limited Blue Badge bays on Atterbury Street, opposite the College Main Entrance. Metered parking applies Monday - Friday 8.30 - 18.30 (pay and display, with 2 hours maximum) Parking is free from 18.30 onwards and on weekends and bank holidays. Chelsea is situated within London's Congestion Charge Zone. There are bike racks located by the Main Atterbury Street Entrance to the college.

    • There are several bus stops within 150m (164yds) of the Chelsea College of Art. The nearest bus stop to the Chelsea College of Art are located on John Islip Street. This bus stop is served by the C10 and bus route 88.

Getting Around (Block A)

    • There is a slight ramp, with no handrails, for access to male toilets, accessible toilets and rooms ALG13 to ALG16.
    • The ramp described above is ahead of the barrier gates (photographs 1 and 2). There is a similar ramp located on the opposite side after the lift which provides access to the female toilets and rooms ALG03 to ALG05. There are also steep ramps linking these two corridors which is situated behind the lift (photograph 3). These ramps can be avoided if using the access corridor in front of the lift.
    • There is/are 3 unmarked step(s), with handrails on both sides, for access to the lecture theatre on the right.
    • The step(s) is/are medium height (11cm - 17cm).
    • There is a slight ramp, with no handrails, for access to the lecture theatre, accessible toilets and shared toilets on L1.
    • There are slight ramps on either side of corridor after exiting the lift which give access to the accessible toilet to the right as you exit to the lift and to the standard toilets and Room 108 to the right. On the left beyond the toilets there is a steep ramp which gives access to the Lecture Theatre-upper left The ramp width is 128cm and has handrails on both side (photograph 6). The steps mentioned above are off the corridor to the right and give access to the Lecture Theatre - upper right (photographs 4 and 5).
    • There are doors in corridors which have to be opened manually.

    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are LG, G, 1 and 2.

There is a third staircase located to the rear, left of the block which can also be used as an alternative access for LG, G, 1 and 2. The rear stairs only have handrails on one side between floors 1-2 (photographs 4 and 5).

Lift (Block A Main Lift - LG - 1)
