COVID-19 Information

  • The information in this section was taken in October 2020.
  • UAL is regularly reviewing all access to buildings and facilities in response to the latest government guidance. Check the updates on the Coronavirus: Important Information page to find out more.
  • There have been no changes to the parking.
  • There are separate doors for entering and exiting.
  • The main entrance is still used for access, however the east fire exit is used for exiting the building.
  • Additional hand sanitising stations have been installed at entrances, in toilets in the canteen area, in all classrooms and workshops and in communal areas.
  • Signage has been installed in all areas.
  • Floor markings and wall signs have been added throughout to inform people of social distancing requirements.
  • A protective screen has been installed at the main reception desk.
  • Some urinals and cubicles in the standard toilets have been closed to assist with social distancing.
  • The venue is certified with the 'We’re Good To Go’ COVID-19 industry standard.

Leave Shoreditch Road Station

  • There is level access via lift from the platforms.
  • There is a slight gradient going down as you leave the station.
  • The surface as you leave is slightly uneven block paving.

Turn left and head up Braithwaite Street to Bethnel Green Road

  • The surface is slightly uneven block paving.
  • There is a gradient downhill and then uphill.
  • There is a slight dropped kerb to a bike shed you will have to cross.

Turn left up Bethnel Green to Shoreditch High Street

  • The road is concrete and slightly uneven.
  • There is a bus stop here.
  • There is a slight gradient to the road.

Bus Stop

  • There is a bus stop along the route along Bethnel Green Road.
  • It serves routes 8, 388 and N8.

Turn right and cross traffic lights to reach the other side of Shoreditch High Street

  • Cross the traffic lights to the other side of Bethnal Green.
  • There are tactile block paved dropped kerbs on both sides.
  • Turn left and take the pedestrian crossing to your left.
  • There are traffic lights and tactile block paved dropped kerbs on each side.
  • There is an island in the middle of the road with a dropped kerb.
  • Then turn left and cross the final set of lights which has block paved dropped kerbs on either side also.

Continue along Shoreditch High Street

  • The surface is uneven block paving.
  • You will need to cross a tarmac service road to the car park for the Majestic Wine Warehouse.
  • The road goes up to pavement level.
  • It is tarmac and has an easy slope towards the road.

Turn right down Fairchild Street to Great Eastern Street

  • There is uneven block paving.
  • There is a car park service road which is concrete and has dropped kerbs on each side.
  • On the far side it is uneven block paving.
  • There are bollards near to the road making the path width 110cm.

Turn right and head down Great Eastern Street

  • The pavement is uneven block paving.
  • There is a slight gradient to the road.
  • You will need to cross Holywell Road at the traffic lights, which have tactile block paved dropped kerbs.
  • Continue to Curtain Road, passing a bus stop.
  • There is also a patch of tactile paving for a pedestian crossing.

Bus Stop

  • Pass the bus stop on Great Eastern Street with seating and shelter.
  • It serves routes 135, 205 and N205.

Turn right on to Curtain Road and cross New Inn Yard

  • The surface here is uneven block paving.
  • There is tactile paving for a pedestrian crossing.
  • Then cross New Inn Yard.
  • It has tactile dropped kerbs on either side and the surface of the road is brick block paving.

Continue up Curtain Road

  • The pavement here is brick block paving, block paving and then concrete.
  • There is a slight gradient to the road.
  • There is a section down the road with a street sign on the right, leaving a 100cm wide section of pavement.
  • There is a service road to 96-98A Curtain Road to cross.
  • It has dropped kerbs on both sides and the road is block paved.

Arrive at Curtain Road - Main Building

  • The venue should be on the left.
  • The car park service road with dropped kerbs on both sides must be crossed.
