Access Guide
Introduction
- This guide details the route between the Arena and Riverside buildings and the City Campus.
Reception (Arena)
- The desk is 6m (6yd 1ft) from the main entrance.
- There is level access to reception from the entrance.
- The lighting levels are medium.
- The reception desk is high (110cm+).
- The desk has a low (76cm or lower) section.
- The desk is generally staffed.
- There is a hearing assistance system.
- The type of system is a portable loop.
- Staff are trained to use the system.
Outside Access (Arena)
- This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
- There is not level access into the venue.
- The main door(s) open automatically.
- The doors are single width.
- The door opening is 175cm (5ft 9in) wide.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
Level Change (Arena)
- There is a ramp or slope to access this service.
- The ramp/slope does bypass the step(s).
- The ramp or slope is located leading to the entrance.
- The ramp or slope is permanent.
- There is a level landing at the top of the ramp.
- The ramp does have handrails.
- The handrails are on both sides.
- There is a / are step(s) to access this area / service.
- The step(s) is / are located at the side of the entrance.
- There is / are 10 step(s) to the area / service.
- There is tactile paving at the top and bottom of the steps.
- The step(s) is/are clearly marked.
- The step(s) is / are medium.
- The steps do have handrails.
- The handrails are on both sides.

Chequers Lane Crossing
- Continue straight before turning right toward the crossing.
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of the crossing.
- The surface of the crossing is tarmac which becomes block paving as you approcach the far side.
- In front of you after crossing is the entrance to the Riverside Building.
Outside Access (Riverside)
- This information is for the entrance located at the side of the building in front of the Chequers Lane crossing.
- There is not level access into the venue.
- The intercom is not in a suitable position to allow wheelchair users to gain access.
- The main door(s) open automatically.
- The doors are double width.
- The door opening is 125cm (4ft 1in) wide.

- The doors are double width.
- The door opening is 120cm (3ft 11in) wide.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
Level Change (Riverside)
- There is a ramp or slope to access this service.
- The ramp or slope is located in front of the entrance.
- The ramp or slope is permanent.
Riverside Entrance - Hylton Road Crossing
- Turn left as you exit the Riverside Building, onto the pathway.
- Continue on the path following it around to the left.
- The surface of the path is block paving becoming tarmac as you turn to the left.
- It is uneven in places.
- The corner has a dropped kerb with tactile paving that slopes down towards the road.
- Continue ahead, the pedestrian crossing is located on the right.
Hylton Road Crossing
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving both sides of the crossing.
- The surface of the crossing is tarmac.
- After crossing turn left and head north on Hylton Road.
Hylton Road
- The surface of the pathway is smooth tarmac.
- It is uneven in places.
- The pathway is on an easy slope leading upwards towards Sabrina Bridge.
- Sabrina Bridge is located on the right hand side of the pathway.
Sabrina Bridge
- The surface of the first part of the bridge is block paving before becoming wooden slats.
- As you exit the bridge, the surface turns back to block paving.
- It is uneven in places.
- There are a series of moderate or steep slopes on the bridge.
- A bollard is on the centre of the pathway as you exit the bridge.
- The surface now changes to smooth tarmac.
- On exiting the bridge, continue ahead on Grand Stand Road before turning left for the Grand Stand Road crossing.
Grand Stand Road Crossing
- There are dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides of the crossings.
- A bollard is located at the centre of the dropped kerb on the far side.
- The surface of the crossing is tarmac.
- After crossing, turn right and continue ahead to the Croft Road Crossings.
Grand Stand Road - Croft Road Crossings
- The surface of the pathway is tarmac.
- It is uneven in places.
- There are bollards at the start and towards the Croft Road crossing on the pathway.
- Follow the pathway around the edge of Worcester Race Course.
- There is a moderate slope leading down to the Croft Road Crossing.
- The crossing has dropped kerbs on each side with tactile paving.
- The surface of the crossing is tarmac.
- After the crossing turn left and continue ahead before following the pathway around to the right.
- A second crossing is located over the service road.
- There are dropped kerbs on both sides with tactile paving.
- The surface of the crossing is tarmac.
- Turn right after the crossing and continue ahead the City Campus Rear Entrance is then located on the left.
- The surface of the pathway is concrete.
- The pathway is narrow.
- The surface of the path is tarmac.
- It is uneven in places.
Outside Access (City Campus Rear Entrance)
- This information is for the entrance located off Croft Road.
- The main door(s) open automatically (away from you).
- The doors are single width.
- The door opening is 112cm (3ft 8in) wide.

- On exiting, turn right where the dropped kerb for the crossing is then located on the left.

Outside Access (City Campus Accessible Entrance)
- This information is for the entrance located at the front of the McClelland Centre.
- The intercom is in a suitable position to allow wheelchair users to gain access.
- The main door(s) open automatically (towards you).
- The doors are single width.
- The door opening is 85cm (2ft 9in) wide.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.

- The lift is located immediately after the accessible entrance.
