Access Guide
Introduction
- Services / facilities within the building include conference facilities, accessible changing rooms, standard changing rooms, 3 basketball or netball courts, Worcester Wolves court, fitness suite, offices.
- The building includes a fitness centre as well as sports facilities with a seating capacity of 2,000 people. It also contains conferencing facilities.
The building is located next to the Riverside Building with which it shares a car park.
There are further sports facilities there.
The arena is a training centre for British Wheelchair Basketball (BWB).
It receives funding from Sport England as an Iconic Facility.
It has received the Guardian Award for HE ‘Buildings that Inspire’
. - The 2,000-seat capacity venue opened in April 2013 and is a national centre of excellence for disability sports.
The University Arena's facilities cater for disability by design and enable true inclusion.
It is also the home ground for the Worcester Wolves basketball team and the Severn Stars Netball Team, was previously the training base for GB Men's and Women’s Wheelchair Basketball teams (2013-2017), as well as being the venue for a wide range of memorable sporting events.
Getting Here

By Road

- Worcester is served by the M5 motorway and is accessible from Junctions 6 and 7.
Under normal traffic conditions all University campuses can be reached in 15-20 minutes from Junction 7.
The University is clearly signposted once you come off at Junction 7. - There is a drop off zone and disabled parking spaces on site, there are parking spaces for visitors.
The Severn Campus is also very close to several council run car parks ranging from 60p-90p per hour depending on which car park you use.
If you have pre-bought parking tickets, please proceed directly to the Arena.

By Bus

- The numbers 31, 31B, and 31E Henwick Park Services operated by First travel connect the Severn Campus to all university campuses via a bus stop outside the Arena. Download the bus routes map for more details.

National Express Coaches serve the city of Worcester, arriving into Worcester Bus Station which is situated in the Crowngate Shopping Centre in the City Centre.
The 31B Unishuttle stops outside the Arena, it is a direct bus service between all of the University’s sites; St John’s Campus, Severn Campus and City Campus.
The first 31B bus leaves St John’s Campus at 07:56am, and from 09:36am is every 36 and 6 minutes past the hour until the final service at 17.56pm.
You can catch the direct 31B from the Bus Station every 10 and 40 minutes past the hour from 09:00am.
Travelling by bus can cost as little as 50p per journey with a 10-journey ticket (£5.00) which can be purchased from the SU Shop, the Finance Office or Firstpoint (in the Peirson Centre) and is valid on any First Bus service in Worcester on any day.
Alternatively you can buy a £1.00 single ticket from the driver or a £2.00 day ticket.

- The venue has staging with an accessible ramped stage (photograph 4).
- There is an infrared hearing assistance system available in the Conference Suite.
- The Joel Richards Media Suite (photograph 6) is located at the far end of the Conference Suite, accessed by double, heavy, manual doors, 158cm wide, which open inwards.

Courtside Rooms
- The Courtside Rooms are the flexible teaching spaces UAG010 - 011, located next to the main hall.
