Getting Here (Gilmorehill Campus)

  • By Road View
    • The University of Glasgow Gilmorehill Campus is located to the west of Glasgow city centre.
      From Carlisle, Newcastle and the south, exit M74 on to the M73, joining the M8 at the Old Monkland junction.
      M8 exits for the University are J18 if travelling from the south, Edinburgh and the north and J19 if coming from Glasgow Airport and the west.
      Other main routes serving the University include Great Western Road (A82, north of campus), Clydeside Expressway (A814, south) and Byres Road (B808, west).
    • Car parking at the University Campuses is limited and a Vehicle Management and Enforcement Scheme is in operation.
      There is limited pay and display on street parking across the campus and a long stay pay and display public car park in Lilybank Gardens.
      There are designated bays for disabled staff, students and visitors across the campus car parks. Please see University of Glasgow parking notes for further details.
  • By Bus View
    • Buchanan bus station is the main bus terminus in Glasgow for inter city coach services.
      First Group buses Simplicity services 4 and 4A , bus routes 15 and 370 and Stagecoach bus services X25, X25A, X76 and X77 all stop on University Avenue by the Main Gate opposite the library.
  • By Train View
    • The nearest train station to the University is Partick to the west of the campus approximately 0.9 miles away (18 minutes) via Byres Road. There is step free access throughout the station via lifts and ramp access for trains. There is an induction loop at the booking office.
      The nearest train station to the east of the University campus is Charing Cross approximately 0.9 miles away (19 minutes) from Bank Street via Woodlands Road. There is step free access throughout the station via lifts and ramp access for trains. There is an induction loop at the booking office.

    • The nearest underground station is Hillhead on Byres Road. The station has stepped and escalator access to platforms only.
      The nearest underground station to the east of the campus is Kelvinbridge, the station has stepped and escalator access to platforms only.

Building Parking

  • The building does not have its own dedicated parking.

    • There is a car park for public use within 200m (approx).
    • There is a/are Blue Badge parking bay(s) available within the car park.
    • The name of the car park is Bunhouse Road Car Park.
    • The car park is located off Bunhouse Road.
    • The Bunhouse Road public car park is chargeable from 08:00-18:00 every day except Christmas Day and New Years' Day. Payment is via the RingGo App, or by phone - 0141 530 3303 - quoting location 20558. See signage for tariffs.
      There are Blue Badge bays within the car park, but they are the same size as the standard bays and have no hatched markings. There is step-free access, via slight slopes, from the Blue Badge bays in the car park to the South Entrance of the building. This car park is shown in the photographs.
      There is an additional public car park at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, which is a similar distance from the venue; however there is a steep slope on the approach from this car park to the venue.

The route requires you to cross Argyle Street via a pedestrian crossing. These Blue Badge bays are shown in the photographs. Parking on Torness Street is metered from Monday to Saturday, 08:00-18:00. Payment is by phone - 0141 530 3303 quoting location 20599 - or with coins at the meter. The tariff is 80p per 15 minutes, up to a maximum stay of 3 hours. Permit holders may park free. See signage for details. This parking is also shown in the photographs.

Baby Changing Room

  • The Baby Changing Room is located 18m from the South Entrance, diagonally to the left and shortly on your right along the wide corridor. It is located next to the Prayer Room.
  • The area outside the room, off which the Prayer Room is also located, is accessed through a single, manual, heavy door that opens towards you (pull) and is 89cm wide.
  • The Baby Changing Room is located diagonally to the right as you enter the area. The door opens easily inwards, and is 87cm wide. It is unlocked by a key card reader at a height of 110cm.
  • There is pictorial signage for the room.
  • There is a sink, stool, chair and baby changing table within the facility.
  • The sink is 90cm high and the baby changing table is 92cm high.
  • There is not space for a wheelchair user to turn inside the room.

Prayer Room and Wudu Washing Facilities

  • The Prayer Room is located 18m from the South Entrance, diagonally to the left and shortly on your right along the wide corridor. It is located next to the Baby Changing Facility.
  • The area outside the room, off which the Baby Changing Facility is also located, is accessed through a single, manual, heavy door that opens towards you (pull) and is 89cm wide.
  • The Prayer Room and Wudus are located to the left as you enter the area.
  • There is a door which is clearly marked with numerical and written text signage.
  • It is single, opens towards you, is heavy and is 88cm wide.
  • Inside this area, the Prayer Room is on the right. It is accessed via a single, manual, heavy door which opens away from you to a width of 91cm.
  • It is signed with numerical and written text signage.
  • There is a shelf, coffee table and a single chair with armrests on both sides within the room. There is sufficient space for a wheelchair user to turn inside the room. The floor surface may be covered by prayer mats which could pose a trip hazard.
  • Also in the area are two Wudu washing facilities. The one on the left has a door which opens away from you to a width of 86cm. The one straight ahead has a door which opens towards you to a width of 85cm. Both doors are heavy and manual, locked by lever twist, and signed numerically and with written text.
  • Both Wudus have a single coat hook which is 107cm high. There is also a stall in the Wudu to the left as you enter the area, which has a suitable space for a wheelchair user to turn. The facility straight ahead has no such turning space.

Bike Store

  • The Bike Store is located within the Shower Area on Level 1, diagonally to the left and along the wide corridor on the left as you enter from the South Entrance. The room is located at the rear of the Shower Area, 35m from the South Entrance.
  • It is accessed internally by a single, manual, heavy door that opens away from you (push) to a width of 80cm. There is pictorial signage for the facility.
  • The Bike Store is accessed externally via manual, double, heavy doors with one leaf locked and an opening width of 80cm.
  • There is a door release button to exit through this entrance at a height of 112cm.
  • This entrance is located to the left of the building as you face it from Dumbarton Road, from which there is level access.

Standard Shower (Level 1 - Shower Area)

  • Shower facilities are available.
  • The shower(s) surveyed is/are located within the Level 1 Shower Area, diagonally to the left as you enter from the South Entrance, along the corridor and on the left. The showers are located at the far end of the area.
  • There is level access to the services from the shower facilities.
  • Comments View
    • There are 3 identical standard shower cubicles here, with doors that easily open inwards to a width of 86cm.
    • All have a 5cm step up into the shower tray, as well as a flip down seat outside the shower tray at a height of 47cm.
    • There is also a fourth standard shower cubicle here which is larger. It has a door that easily opens outwards to a width of 101cm. The actual shower tray is, however, the same size.
    • The shower area is accessed via key card; the reader on the door is 110cm high.

Accessible Toilet(s) (Level 1 - South - Next to Baby Change and Prayer Room - Right Hand Transfer)
