Car Park A - Visitor and Patient Parking

  • The car park is located in front of the main hospital entrance.
  • It is the first car park located on your right when entering from the Hardwick Lane entrance.
  • There are 23 Blue Badge bays, located to the right as you enter the car park.
  • Porters can be called from the car park hut to provide assistance to the main entrance.
  • The car park surface is tarmac.
  • The car park is on a moderate slope leading up to the access road crossing.
  • Standard marked parking bays are 255cm x 484cm.
  • There are marked pedestrian walkways at the ends of each parking row.
  • The car park is operated by a number plate recognition system. Access to the car park is via security barriers which will raise after the number plate has been read and recorded.
  • Payment must be must be made before returning to your car and exiting the car park.
  • The car park has a one way system with separate entrance and exit points.
  • An identical set of barriers are located at the exit.
  • Following payment at one of the machines located inside the hospital entrance or next to the car park security office, when leaving the car park, cameras at the exit barrier will recognise the number plate and raise.
  • Patients and visitors are advised to take note of there number plate before entering the hospital.
  • Payment machines for patients and visitors required to pay for parking, are located in the hospital main entrance and outside the car park office.
  • The touch screen is under 120cm.

Parking in Front of Main Entrance and at Side of Hospital

  • Blue Badge bays are situated immediately opposite the main entrance and therapies entrance at the front of the hospital.
  • There is level access into the hospital via zebra crossing.
  • There is Blue Badge parking at the side of the hospital on the access road to the rear of the site.
  • This is a one way system and any driver using these spaces will need to exit via the barrier system.
  • The blue badge bays in front of the hospital main entrance used by a pay and display system. Payment machines are located on the pathway in front of the bays.

Parking Areas At Rear Of Site

  • Limited parking is available at the rear of the hospital and Blue Badge parking is therefore primarily for patients and visitors using services in external buildings, as well as services in the rear of the main hospital building.
  • The external buildings with their own areas of parking include the Renal Dialysis Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Eye Treatment Centre and Macmillan Unit. There is also Blue Badge parking for the Hospice and Busy Bees Nursery at the far end of the site (Macmillan Way).
  • Those services located at the rear of the main hospital building include Ward G1 - Oncology, Pharmacy, Pathology including Blood Tests, Children's Outpatients and Rainbow Ward/F1 for Children's Inpatients. Blue Badge parking for these services is located adjacent to the hospital rear entrance.
  • Staff car parks are also located at the rear and side of the hospital and there are two dedicated staff Blue Badge bays adjacent to the hospital rear entrance.
  • Car Park D has 100 standard parking bays for the general public.
  • The are 6 electric charging parking bays in front of the education centre, 3 of these are currently temporary Blue Badge parking bays.
  • The rear parking areas are accessed by keeping left after entering the entrance on Hardwick Lane.
  • The surface of the rear parking areas vary; there are areas of tarmac, block paving and shingle.
  • There are marked pedestrian walkways at the ends of each parking row.
  • The car park is operated by a number plate recognition system. Access to the car park is via security barriers which will raise after the number plate has been read and recorded.
  • Payment must be must be made before returning to your car and exiting the car park.

  • Regular or frequent users can register their car details at the car park office and then access the site via automatic number plate recognition. This will allow unhindered access to and from the rear of the site..
  • Please call at the car park office with your Blue Badge to arrange this registration.

Bus Stop

  • A bus stop is located on the pathway in front of the main visitor and patient car park.
  • The bus stop is sheltered.
  • There is seating at a low level within the bus stop.
  • The services that stop at the hospital include the 82, 84, 86, 374, Breeze 1 and M22.
