  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are basement, principal floor.
  • Externally the lift has: a door with a high colour contrast to the surroundings, controls at a recommended height range (between 90cm - 110cm) and buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings.
  • The lift door opening width is 89cm.

Getting Around

  • Getting Into The Room View
    • The colour contrast between the external door and wall is high. The colour contrast between the internal door and wall is high.
    • There is a single manual door which open away from you.
    • The width of the opening is 102cm.
    • There is step-free access into the room(s).
  • Inside The Room View
    • The room has: chairs without armrests, tables which are accessible to wheelchair users and room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • All flooring in the area is smooth and even.
    • The colour contrast between the walls and floor is high.
    • The area does not have a hearing assistance system.
    • There is a visual fire alarm beacon in the room(s).
    • Light switches are at a recommended height from floor level at 77cm.
    • The two rooms have similar details accessed by the Ballroom entrance. The rooms were not set up for a function at the time of the survey. Photographs 3, 4 and 5 show some optional set ups for the Adam Ballroom.
      Photographs 6 and 7 show the Tapestry Room. There is an accessible toilet and standard toilet off the Tapestry Room accessed via a steep ramp.

Ramp or Slope (Adam Ballroom and Tapestry Room Toilets)

  • The ramp overcomes the steps.

Entrance (The Stable's Kitchen)

  • The entrance surveyed is located to the right of the right colonnade.
  • There is step-free access at this entrance, via ramp/slope.
  • The ramp has a width between 75cm and 150cm and a slight gradient .
  • The ramp does not have handrails.
  • There is a single manual door which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 111cm.
  • There is not a second set of doors.

Eating and Drinking (The Stables Kitchen)

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is step-free access to this area, via ramp/slope.
  • Tables can be booked in advance.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered, table service (on request only) and staff can provide assistance.
  • Menu types include; handheld menus and menu boards.
  • The following are available here: drinking straws and takeaway cups.
  • There may be background noise here.
  • There is a low level counter at the recommended height for wheelchair users (between 76cm - 86cm).
  • The seating area has: chairs without armrests, bench seats, sofas, room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm), coffee tables, long tables and tables which are accessible to wheelchair users.

  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, it is due to uneven paving/tiles.
  • At the time of survey the café was closed for the winter season. Photograph 8 shows a typical set up for the café.

Room(s) (The Ranger's Centre)

  • The room surveyed was The Ranger's Centre and is located off the courtyard to the rear of the Stables Kitchen.
  • There is written signage for the room, in block capital lettering, that is clearly visible.
  • Getting Into The Room View
    • The colour contrast between the external door and wall is high. The colour contrast between the internal door and wall is high.
    • There is a single manual door which open away from you.
    • The width of the opening is 98cm.
    • There is step-free access into the room(s).
    • There is a ramp with a slight gradient.
    • The ramp does not have handrails.
  • Inside The Room View
    • The room has: room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) and chairs without armrests.
    • There are no tables which are at a recommended height for a wheelchair user (between 70cm - 80cm).
    • The colour contrast between the walls and floor is high.
    • The area does not have a hearing assistance system.
    • There is a visual fire alarm beacon in the room(s).
    • Light switches are at a recommended height from floor level at 110cm.
    • The Ranger's Centre provides information about the woodlands and animals that may be seen there.

Outdoor Spaces

  • Access Point View
    • This information is for the access point located by the car park.
    • There is step-free access at this access point, via ramp/slope.

    • The slope has a slight gradient and a width between 75cm and 150cm.
    • This is an open gap at this access point.
    • The width of the gap is 90cm.
    • There is an alternative route for those that are parked by the main house that joins the path at the rear of the Ballroom.
  • Outdoor Spaces View
    • The following outdoor facilities are available: woodland, parkland and gardens.
    • Surfaces for the outdoor spaces include: grass, concrete or tarmac, compact earth, gravel and muddy.
    • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor spaces.
    • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
    • There are more than 3 steps without handrails and slight slopes without handrails in the main areas .
    • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
    • The outside areas are partially accessible for wheelchair users, with additional area accessible to those with mobility scooters / electric wheelchairs. Some areas have stepped access or steeped ramp access only including Hopes Walk. Other paths are muddy or are uneven due to tree routes. Wheelchair access is limited principally to the main driveways, while other routes will be suitable for mobility scooters, and electric and all terrain wheelchairs. Standard Toilet(s) (Stables Kitchen - Female)

  • There is a baby change facility which is not at a recommended height (between 70cm - 75cm).

Accessible Toilet (Stables Kitchen - Left Hand Transfer)

  • This accessible toilet is located to the left as you enter via the Stables Kitchen.
  • There is step-free level access into the accessible toilet.
  • This accessible toilet is approximately 35m from the Stables Kitchen entrance.
  • There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
  • There is a manual door which opens outwards and has a colour contrast.
  • The door has a lever twist lock.
  • The width of the accessible toilet door opening is 86cm.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 133cm x 202cm and it does not have a 150cm x 150cm turning space.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the toilet seat but it is obstructed.

  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 150cm x 226cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
