  • The following information describes the route from Stratford International Station and Stratford International DLR Station to the London Stadium.
  • The approximate distance of this route is 970m from the DLR station or 800m from the mainline station.
  • The route takes approximately 13 - 18 minutes.
  • The route leads through Westfield Shopping Centre (using The Street and Chestnut Plaza), along Stratford Walk and over Bridge 1.
  • Bridge 1 is closest to Entrances G, H and J.
  • Most of this route is traffic-free.
  • Part of the route is under cover and there are many opportunities to sit down and rest.
  • The paths along the route consist of tarmac, concrete paving slabs, stone paving slabs and resin-bound gravel.
  • There is limited street signage located along the route directing you to the stadium but there would usually be stewards at key points on matchdays.
  • The potential hazards on this route include; bollards, freestanding shop signs and planters and congested pathways.
  • This route may be subject to change during construction work in the area.
  • Stratford International Station is one of the pick-up points for the Accessible Shuttle Bus Service.

Stratford International Station

  • Stratford International Station serves mainline rail services.
  • There is level access by lift from all platforms to the station concourse.
  • There is staff available to place the portable ramps to overcome the step between the platform and the trains.
  • There are accessible and standard toilets on the station concourse.

Stratford International DLR Station

  • Stratford International DLR Station is the terminus of the DLR services which run through Stratford Station.
  • It is located to the north of Stratford International Mainline Station, on the opposite side of International Way.
  • There is level access by lift to the DLR platforms and level access from the train to the platform.
  • There are no toilets at this DLR station, but there are accessible and standard toilets off the concourse of the mainline station, approximately 150m away.
  • This station is not usually staffed, but there are likely to be stewards in the area on matchdays.
  • From the station exit there is a covered walkway and a pedestrian crossing over International Way to the north entrance of the mainline station.
  • It is then possible to walk through the mainline station concourse to the exit nearest Westfield Shopping City.
  • There is also a level walkway alongside the station building (Celebration Avenue) towards the shopping centre.

Stratford International Station to Westfield Shopping City

  • From the Stratford International Station there is level access across a pedestrianised area towards Westfield Shopping City.
  • There are lifts, stairs and escalators to enter the shopping centre.

Westfield Shopping City Entrance to The Street

The Street to Westfield Way

  • Continue ahead along The Street.
  • The surface in this area is level stone paving slabs with some contrasting light and dark areas.
  • There are large free-standing planters, including some with bench seating in this area.
  • After approximately 30m bear right behind the security cordon and take the walkway past John Lewis.
  • The walkway to the right hand side continues with level stone paving slabs.
  • Continue straight ahead for approximately 100m until you reach an open gateway leading out to Westfield Way.
  • There is a raised threshold in the gateway.
  • The threshold is clearly marked.
  • Pass through the gateway onto Westfield Way.

Westfield Way

  • Bear left onto Westfield Way which is closed to traffic before matches.
  • Follow Westfield Way for approximately 120m until you reach the traffic lights at the road crossing.
  • The crossing has stewards to direct people.
  • At the crossing turn right towards Stratford Way.

Westfield Way to Stratford Walk (London Aquatics Centre)

  • After the crossing, continue ahead between the bollards onto Stratford Walk.
  • The bollards are 100cm high with a contrasting band.
  • The gap between the bollards is 120cm.
  • The path has a surface of light coloured stone paving slabs.
  • There are some contrasting bands of a darker colour then resin-bound gravel on the path.
  • There is a slight uphill slope on the path.
  • There is bench seating, including some with backrests and armrests in this area.
  • After approximately 250m the path widens out at the London Aquatics Centre.
  • There is bench seating between the central planters in this area.

Stratford Walk (London Aquatics Centre) to the Outer Concourse (via Bridge 1)

  • From the Aquatics Centre, continue ahead on Stratford Walk
  • There are bollards 104cm high with gaps between them of 132cm in this location.
  • This section is elevated as the walkway bridges over two rivers.
  • The path surface is of resin-bound gravel and there is a long slope downhill.
  • There is seating available in this section.
  • Continue ahead for approximately 70m to another set of bollards.
  • These bollards are 104cm high with gaps between them of 140cm.
  • Continue ahead for approximately 80m towards the security check area.
