Getting to (Undercroft Café)

  • The Undercroft is located within the State Apartments.
    There is access to the Undercroft Café from both the Inner Hall and the entrance.
    There is step-free access from both entrances.

Lift (Undercroft - Lower to Upper Level Seating)

  • This lift is a platform lift.
  • A member of staff does not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The lift overcomes a small level change.
  • Externally the lift has: controls at a suitable height for a wheelchair user, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings, tactile markings and a door with a low colour contrast to the surroundings.
  • The lift does have a recommended turning space (150cm x 150cm) in front of it.
  • The lift door opening width is 81cm.
  • The dimensions of the lift are 95cm x 130cm.
  • Internally the lift has: a separate door to exit, tactile markings, buttons with a high colour contrast to the surroundings and controls at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.

Steps (Undercroft - Lower to Upper Level Seating)

  • There are 8 steps.
  • The steps are not clearly marked but there are handrails on both sides.

Toilet with Adaptations (Inner Hall - Right Hand Transfer)

  • This toilet is located along Horncourt Corridor.
  • There is step-free level access into the toilet.
  • There is pictorial and written text signage on or near the door.
  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a medium colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the toilet door opening is 107cm.
  • The door has a twist lock.
  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 220cm x 225cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the right of the seat.
  • The lateral transfer space is 150cm from the side of the toilet pan to the wall.
  • There is a wall sensor flush on top of the cistern.
  • The following grab rails are available: a horizontal grab rail on the door, a horizontal grab rail on the non transfer side, a vertical grab rail on the transfer side and vertical grab rails on both sides of the wash basin.
  • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
  • The following fixtures can be reached from the toilet seat: toilet roll holder, wash basin and soap dispenser.
