Accommodation Overview

  • About View
    • The Dairy is one of two accommodation options available in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It was designed using the principle of universal design to cater for all guests.
    • There is 1 bedroom with adaptations.
    • There is step-free level access to the bedroom with adaptations.
    • Only assistance dogs are welcomed at this venue.
    • The bedroom with adaptations has an ensuite with both a bath and a wheel-in shower.

    • There is step-free level access at the most accessible entrance.
    • There is step-free level access throughout.
    • Access throughout may include manual doors.
    • The following facilities are available: a seat/chair, a manual wheelchair, walking aids, a deaf alert system, vibrating pillows, bed raisers, portable hoists, panic alarm, bath steps, bath mats, raised toilet seats, a water bowl for assistance dogs, shower chairs, commodes, over bed tables, standing frames, mobility scooter charging facilities and a hearing assistance system (on request).
    • Additional equipment which can be borrowed or hired includes: electric profiling bed, bed, sofa and chair raisers, portable suction grab rails, portable toilet frame, toilet riser, bed transfer board, shower/commode chair, standalone shower chair, bath lift, wake and shake alarm clock, bed rails, bed ladder, dual motion rise/recliner armchair, walking sticks, Zimmer frame with wheels at front, perching tool, hand bell, long shoehorn, portable tilting bed table and folding bed tray.
    • The venue can provide large print documents and virtual tours.
    • Staff receive the following training: Disability Awareness Training, Dementia Forward Training, Welcome for All.

  • The car park is located directly in front of the cottage.
  • The car park is open air/surface.
  • Parking is free for all users.
  • There is 1 electric vehicle charging point.
  • The charging points require an online account.

Entrance

  • This entrance is located at the front of the cottage.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There is a key safe at a height of 100cm.
  • There is a single manual door at this entrance.
  • The door opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 110cm.
  • There is step-free level access as you enter.
  • Directly upon entrance there is an adapted wardrobe with a sliding door for guests.

Bedroom with Adaptations

  • Location and Access View
    • The bedroom surveyed is located to the left side after entering the cottage.
    • The most accessible route to the bedroom has step-free level access.
    • There is step-free level access into the bedroom.
    • The door opens inwards.
    • The width of the door opening is 90cm.
  • Bedroom Features View
    • The bedroom has a super king bed which can be split into two singles.
    • The top of the mattress is 64cm from the floor.
    • The space under the bed is 6cm from the floor.
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre next to the bed (150cm x 150cm).
    • The following is available in this bedroom: a TV with subtitles, bedside plug sockets, a flashing fire alarm, wardrobes for seated users, a desk and an armchair.
    • There is no emergency alarm.

Ensuite with Adaptations

  • Access View
    • There is step-free level access into the ensuite.
    • The ensuite door opens outwards.
    • The width of the door opening to the ensuite is 90cm.
  • Dimensions and Features View
    • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
    • There is a lateral transfer space to the left as you face the toilet.
    • The lateral transfer space is 230cm (from the side of the toilet pan to the wall).
    • There is a push button flush on top of the cistern.
    • There is a horizontal grab rail on the non-transfer side.
    • There is no vertical grab rail for the toilet.
    • There is a dropdown rail on the transfer side.
    • The toilet seat is 46cm from the floor.
    • There is a wall mounted toilet roll holder, a wash basin, a soap dispenser and a hand towel available.
    • The wash basin has a lever mixer tap.
    • There are no vertical grab rails at the wash basin.
    • There is no emergency alarm.
    • The ensuite has a waste bin.
    • Additional features include: a mirror, coat hooks and a shelf.
    • The ensuite has a wheel in shower and a bath.
    • The height of the side of the bath from floor level is 50cm.
    • The bath controls are lever mixer.
    • There is not room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre in the shower (150cm x 150cm).
    • The shower has a fixed shower head, an adjustable shower head which can be detached, a flip-down seat, wall-mounted grab rails and a dropdown rail.
    • The shower seat is 50cm from the floor.
    • The shower controls are twist turn mixer.
    • The shower room also has a remote control operation button.
      There is latch lock on the ensuite door and into kitchen.

Lounge (with Dining)

  • The lounge is located to the right after entering the cottage.
  • There is step-free level access into the lounge.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • Seating available in the lounge includes: chairs without armrests, armchairs, sofas, riser recliner chairs and stools.
  • Furniture available in the lounge includes: tables and coffee tables.
  • There is a TV with subtitles.

Kitchen

  • The kitchen is located to the right side after entering the cottage, beyond the lounge.
  • There is step-free level access into the kitchen.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • The kitchen has a lowered work surface, a lowered sink, a lowered hob, overhead cupboards and under counter cupboards.
  • The work surface is 90cm from the floor.
  • The hob is 87cm from the floor.
  • The oven is not at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The sink is 87cm from the floor.
  • The sink has a twist turn mixer tap.
  • Facilities within the kitchen include a fridge freezer, a dishwasher, a washer dryer, a microwave, a kettle and a toaster.
  • The following machines are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user: washer dryer and dishwasher.
  • There are numerous features in the kitchen to assist guests who have access needs.

Seating Area (Patio)

  • The seating area is located to the right side of the cottage.
  • The seating area is uncovered.
  • The most accessible route to the seating area has a ramp or slope.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the seating area.
  • There is room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is space for an assistance dog to rest.
  • Seating available in this area includes: chairs without armrests and benches.
  • Furniture available in this area includes: tables.
  • There is no (or very little) background noise in this area.

Outdoor Spaces (Eastburn Farmhouse Garden)

  • The following is available in this area: gardens.
  • Outdoor areas consist of grass, block paving and paving slabs.
  • There are footpaths throughout.
  • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of areas.
  • There are seats situated along the paths for people to rest.
  • The paths have uneven surfaces.
