Summary

Station Road to Station Avenue

  • Exit the train station via the station exit and turn left.

Station Avenue to Station Road

Station Road to Museum Street

  • Station Road leads across Lendal Bridge to Museum Street.
  • There is a steep slope leading to Lendal Bridge.
  • Station Road runs along the side of York City Wall.
  • Continue over the bridge onto Museum Street.

Museum Street to St Leonard's Place

  • The surface of the pathway on Museum Street is paving slabs which is uneven in places.
  • Along the street there are dropped kerbs with tactile markings at the entrances for Museum Gardens and the Library.
  • There is seating outside the Museum Gardens.
  • Continue along Museum Street.
  • At the end of Museum Street turn left onto St Leonard's Place.

St Leonard's Place to Gillygate

  • The surface of the pathway on St Leonard’s Place is paving slabs and block paving.
  • Along the street there are dropped kerbs with tactile markings at the entrances for St Leonard’s Place and the Exhibition Square.
  • Continue along St Leonard’s Place, through the arch and turn left.
  • At the end of St Leonard’s Place cross to the other side of the street at the pelican crossing.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile markings.
  • Once you are across the road, turn right and then left to join Gillygate.

Gillygate to University Reception (De Grey Court)

  • The surface of the pathway on Gillygate is of paving slabs, tarmac and block paving which is uneven in places.
  • Turn right and cross the road.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile markings.
  • Once you are across the road, turn left and go straight ahead into Gillygate.
  • Along the street there are dropped kerbs without tactile markings at the entrances of side alleyways.
  • Continue along Gillygate.
  • At the end of Gillygate cross to the other side of the street at the pelican crossing.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile markings.
  • Once you are across the road, go straight ahead into St John’s University campus.
  • There are bollards just before the university entrance.
  • The width of the bollards is over 150cm.
  • The bollards do contrast visually with the paving.
  • There is a small metal bar crossing the path, ahead is the entrance to De Grey Court.
