Parking Summary
- Alton Towers Resort has a number of car parks available.
- The Express and Disabled Car Park is located near to the main entrance of the theme park. There is coach parking and a drop-off point located near to the main entrance of the theme park.
- The main car park is located approximately 15 - 25 minutes walk to the theme park main entrance. Alternatively guests can use the Monorail from the Resort Station to get to the main entrance of the theme park.
- The main car park is divided into areas (A to L), with large clearly marked signs indicating which part guests have parked in.
- Staff can provide assistance if guests are unable to locate vehicles before leaving the resort.
- There are two overflow car parks (M and N), which have a grass surface.
- There is a £6 parking charge for all car parks, with the exception of the express parking, which is £18.
- Standard parking tickets can be purchased from the Ticket Sales and Collections counter (cash, card and contactless), car park machines (cash and card) or the Resort Box Office (cash, card and contactless).
- Express parking must be paid for online, in advance. There are very limited spaces available, and these often sell out fast.
- For disabled parking, Alton Towers advise pre-booking your disabled parking online in advance in order to guarantee entry, spaces on the day will be allocated subject to availability on a first come first serviced basis.
- Gold, Platinum and Premium Merlin Passholders and on-site hotel guests are not charged for Disabled Parking.
- A valid car parking ticket is required to leave the car park, with barrier systems in place.

By Road
View
- Alton Towers Resort is located between the M1 and the M6 and is well signposted from both motorways. Depending on your direction, the nearest motorway exits are:
M1 Northbound – Junction 23a
M1 Southbound – Junction 28
M6 Northbound – Junction 15
M6 Southbound – Junction 16
The main entrance to the resort is accessed via Farley Lane. - There are various car parks available around the resort (Express & Disabled, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, M, N, O, P).
Blue Badge bays are available within the Express & Disabled Car Park only.
It takes between 10 and 30 minutes, depending where you have parked your car to walk to the main theme park resort entrance.
Car Park walking times to Main Resort Entrance:
A,B,C - 10-15 Minutes
D,E,F,G,H - 18-22 Minutes
J,M,N,O,P - 22-28 Minutes
Additional car parking is available outside the hotels and other accommodation (for hotel guests only). - D&G Bus are operating two services to Alton Towers Resort.
The X41 is a daily bus service from Stafford & Uttoxeter to Alton Towers Resort. Departing Stafford railway station at 9.30am each day, the bus route includes Weston and Uttoxeter on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The X41 departs Alton Towers at 17.30.
The 32X is a Monday - Saturday bus service from Stoke Railway Station to Alton Towers Resort. Departing Stoke railway station at 8.55am each day, the bus route includes Hanley, Werrington & Cheadle on the way to Alton Towers Resort. The 32X departs Alton Towers at 17.30.
Alton Towers also offers free coach parking for private parties and school trips travelling on a private hire bus.

By Train
View
- Visitors can travel to Alton Towers Resort by train, via several popular destinations.
Uttoxeter station is the nearest train station to Alton Towers, just 10 miles from the resort. Uttoxeter station is just a 20 minute drive away from the resort or 30 minutes by bus.
Stoke-on-Trent station is 15 miles from Alton Towers Resort. A local taxi would take around 25 minutes to the resort.
Derby station is around 25 miles from Alton Towers. From there you will need to order a taxi or a car service to arrive at the resort in around 50 minutes to one hour. - For more information on National Rail enquiries please click here (opens new tab).

- The Alton Towers Monorail takes visitors from the car park to the theme park main resort entrance. The Monorail opens from 9am (Subject to operational restrictions) each day and closes one hour after the advertised ride close.

Theme Park Car Parks A - H to the Main Resort Entrance
- The main theme park car parks are approximately 15 - 25 minutes walk from the main resort entrance.
- Car Parks A and G are approximately 1km from the main resort entrance.
- Some of the other car parks will be further from the main resort entrance, if these distances are not suitable for guests, then the Monorail may be the best solution.
- There is step-free access along the pedestrian route to the main resort entrance area.
- The path is clearly marked on the floor.
- There is clear signage along the route.
- Some parts of the route run alongside the Alton Towers staff access roads.
- In places the route crosses the Alton Towers staff access roads.

- There is step-free access along the paths. The surface of the paths consist of block paving and tarmac.
- There are long slight and steep slopes located along the paths.
- There are two sets of the bollards along the paths from the car parks.
