    • Guests who would find it difficult to exit the ride without assistance, in the unlikely event of an evacuation, will need to be accompanied by a member of their group.
    • This ride has separate access for Standard Passes.
    • The minimum standing height restriction is 0.9m.
    • Guests under 1.1m high must accompanied by an adult aged 16 or over.
    • In the unlikely event of an evacuation, the process may include climbing ladders, walking over narrow balconies and being strapped into a harness . For this reason it is not suitable for all guests.
    • In the unlikely event of an evacuation, the evacuation process requires guests to walk 25 m + independently.
    • Guests need to be able to transfer into the ride vehicle, this can be with assistance from a member of their group.
    • In the unlikely event of an evacuation, the process may include climbing ladders, walking over narrow balconies and being strapped into a harness. For this reason it is not suitable for all guests.
    • For safety reasons, due to the speed and motion of this ride guests must be able to keep their head upright without assistance.
    • Due to the speed and motion of this ride guests must be able to brace themselves with their feet and remain sitting up right.
    • This ride includes strobe lighting and flashing lights and as a result may not be suitable for all guests.

COVID-19 Information (Alton Towers Resort)

  • The information in this section was taken in March 2021.
  • There have been no changes to the Blue Badge parking.
  • There are external queuing systems at the main resort entrance and for the rides/attractions and buildings within the resort.
    The external queuing systems for the main resort entrance have been designated into numbered lanes which ensures social distancing.
  • Guest temperatures are checked before entering the resort. Any person who is displaying a high temperature associated with fever will not be permitted to enter. Please contact Guest Services should you have any concerns.
  • Members of staff are available for assistance at the main resort entrance and within the resort.
  • There are entrance and exit doors at the majority of shops/restaurants around the resort.
  • Hand sanitisers are available throughout the resort and inside buildings/toilets.
  • There is a limited capacity within the resort and all tickets must be pre-booked in advance.
  • Face masks are required on selected rides, indoor attractions and queue lines, shops and toilets, public areas in hotels and when queuing inside for food and drinks.
  • Guests are advised to keep left when using walkways and roaming the resort.
  • Floor markings are in place at the majority of ride/attraction queuing systems and throughout walkways, to allow for social distancing.
  • Signage has been installed throughout the resort informing guests of the safety measures and instructions to follow.
  • Clear screens have been installed at all guest facing counters/desks.
  • Toilets remain open as usual, however some cubicles/urinals will be closed off to allow for social distancing.
  • Additional hygiene and cleaning programmes have been introduced around the resort with all front facing staff wearing PPE.

Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is a member of staff trained in British Sign Language.
  • The alternative formats documents can be provided in include; large print on request.
  • There is not an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact a member of staff or Guest Services.
  • There is a designated place of safety which can be used by people who may feel scared or at risk.

Ride Access (Standard Passes)

  • Access Point View
    • This ride/attraction access point is signed.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this access point.
    • This access point is an opening with no gate(s) or door(s).
    • The width of the access point opening is 90cm.
  • Queuing System View
    • Access along this queue consists of; steps going up, slight slopes going up, slight slopes going down, steep slopes going up and steep slopes going down.
    • The approximate length of this queue is 110m.
    • Path surfaces in this queuing system are block paving and carpet.
    • The queuing area is open air with some sheltered parts.
    • The minimum width of the queuing area is 95cm.
    • There are a total of 7 steps along this queue.
    • Steps are not clearly marked.
    • Handrails along the ramped/sloped section(s) are not provided.
    • Handrails along the stepped section(s) are on the right hand side.
    • There are not any resting/seating areas along the queue.
    • Music/themed noise is played along the queue.
    • There are some points of the queuing area which have low lighting/darkness.
    • The queueing system is divided into an external and an internal area.
      The external area mostly consists of a path with steep slopes leading through a wooded area.
      This is followed by a level block paved path that leads to a set of steps.
      These steps lead up to a 142cm wide set of permanently held open double doors that are used to access the internal section of the queue.
      Upon entering, the queue becomes very uneven with very low lighting levels.
      The internal section of the queue contains several steep slopes leading up to the ride platform.
  • Ride Transfer View
    • Access to the platform is via an opening with no gate(s) or door(s).
    • The gate opening width is 95cm.
    • Guests have to step up and into the carriage.
    • The carriage may be moving when guests are transferring.
    • Staff are unable to provide assistance when transferring into/onto the ride/attraction.
    • The restraints for this ride/attraction include: lap bars.
    • There is currently no step-free access to the ride due to COVID restrictions. A ramp that can be used to bypass the steps was under construction at the time of surveying. The ride can be stopped to allow for stationary boarding. Ride Access Pass holders will be seated in the carriages to the rear of the train, due to the accessible exit being located on a separate platform that is located to the rear of the ride carriages when alighting. Standard Pass holders will exit the ride using the same platform used to access the ride.

    • There are some points of the exit route which have low lighting/darkness.
    • There is a closed single door that opens away from you located along the exit route (see photograph 4).

    • This ride/attraction exit point is not signed.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this exit point.
    • This exit point has closed double doors.
    • The door(s) is/are opened manually by staff.
    • The exit point opening width is 120cm.
