AccessAble and Community Health Partnerships launch new Accessibility Guide

Community Health Partnerships (CHP) has become the latest member of the NHS family to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled-access information.

CHP, which are responsible for 5% of the NHS property portfolio, has worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to each of its 310 sites across England

To celebrate the launch of the Guides, AccessAble and CHP, working with production company Surfr, have produced a series of short stop-motion videos. These innovative videos capture the experiences of disabled people with a variety of impairments accessing healthcare venues, detailing why CHP’s Access Guides are so important.

You can watch the videos here: www.communityhealthpartnerships.co.uk/accessable

The Guides are 100% facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the sites, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guides have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

AccessAble has also provided internal guidance documents which look at how the CHP estate could improve accessibility in the future.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to partner with CHP, who work collaboratively with the NHS to provide high quality health and social care facilities, recognising how crucial access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff.

We know that visiting an NHS service can increase anxiety and not being able to find out about the facilities available can really add to that. Our Guides provide part of the solution to reduce missed appointments, giving the information people need about accessibility, so they plan their visit and feel confident about what to expect.”

Alexandra Slater, Executive Director for Customer Services at CHP said:

“We are thrilled to have worked in partnership with AccessAble to produce detailed Access Guides for our health facilities across England.

We recognise everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having accurate and up to date information is so important. The Access Guides will help patients and staff plan ahead of their visit, familiarise themselves with the building and create as stress-free an experience as possible. We hope the guides will make a big difference to those who visit a CHP site.”
