AccessAble and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust launch new Accessibility Guide

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust becomes the latest of over 90 NHS Trusts to partner with AccessAble; the UK’s leading provider of detailed disabled access information.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust has worked with AccessAble to create Detailed Access Guides to facilities, wards, and departments at their hospital sites.

The Guides are 100 percent facts, figures and photographs to help patients, visitors and staff plan their journeys to and around the hospitals, covering everything from parking facilities and hearing loops, to walking distances and accessible toilets.

We know everyone’s accessibility needs are different, which is why having detailed, accurate information is so important. It’s why all of the details you’ll find in the Guide have been checked in person, on site, by trained surveyors.

Anna Nelson, Chief Executive of AccessAble, said:

“We are delighted to launch this new Accessibility Guide to University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, prioritising accessibility and patient experience, recognising how crucial detailed access information is for disabled patients, visitors and staff.

I would like to express my thanks to the Trust for championing the provision of hospital accessibility information, making visits less anxious, uncertain and difficult for disabled people.”

Melissa Howe, General Manager – Facilities Management at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, said:

“Accessibility to our hospitals and services is crucial to our patients, visitors, and staff. Working with AccessAble has been a fantastic opportunity to provide vital information on all types of accessibility.

The professionalism of their team and their dedication to gathering the minutest details is remarkable. The guides are an incredible tool for all people, no matter what their challenges, giving the information they need to make informed decisions and to have a positive experience with us.

At UHDB we are committed to enhancing accessibility and we will use the action plans as a basis for the strategy and improvement planning. Thanks to Natalie Roddis for heading up the project for team UHDB and to all the AccessAble team for ensuring the project ran smoothly and on time.”
