Arundel has two famous landmarks, Arundel Castle and Arundel Cathedral. The fairy-tale castle dates back to Victorian times and hosts a range of events each year including Characters from History, where visitors can meet Norman Knights, Medieval Doctors and Priests. The town’s streets are full of teashops, restaurants, antique emporiums and art galleries. Breath-taking views can be seen from the South Downs, a popular walking route. The Roman Catholic cathedral overlooks the town on the west bank of the river Arun, a large and interesting building with impressive Gothic architecture.
