- Hepworth is a medium sized building with 4 floors.
- There are 2 main staircases within the building. There is no lift.
- The floors are signed as G, 1, 2 and 3.
- Hepworth is a de facto wing of Laud, occupying the first, second and third floors of a block above Touchdown. The ground floor of this block contains the University Bookshop and Touchdown café, which are both considered as part of Laud.
There are two staircases up to the first, second and third floors of Hepworth, with no lift. The stairs (behind bookshop) lead in from Hepworth's own external entrance directly up to the first, second and third floor - there are no facilities at ground floor level. These stairs provide access to rooms Hf10-Hf18, Hs10-Hs17 and Ht10-Ht18.
The stairs (Touchdown) lead directly up to the first, second and third floor from within Touchdown (in Laud). These stairs access rooms Hf21-Hf28, Hs21-Hs28 and Ht20-Ht25, as well as the Hepworth - First Floor and Hepworth - Second Floor entrances to Newton, via which there is further stepped access to Newton.
There is no internal access between the two staircases at first, second or third floor level - each room is accessible via one of the staircases only. - There is not a toilet with adaptations available.

Getting Inside
- The approach to the building from within Laud and from Anselm is step-free level.
- Hepworth has one entrance, the external entrance, which gives access to rooms Hf10-Hf18, Hs10-Hs17 and Ht10-Ht18 via the stairs (behind bookshop). There are 3 steps, followed by a single manual door at this entrance. Rooms Hf21-Hf28, Hs21-Hs28 and Ht20-Ht25 are accessed via the Touchdown stairs, which lead directly up from the Touchdown area of Laud with no entrance.
- The entrance is signed as "Faculty of Health and Wellbeing - Hepworth".
- The external entrance provides stepped access to the bottom of the stairs (behind bookshop) only.
Getting Around
- There is step-free level access on all floors; however access to all floors is via stairs only, since the building does not have a lift.
- Floor surfaces along all circulation routes consist of low pile carpet.
- There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
- Wall-mounted wayfinding signage is provided on both staircases, and all rooms are numbered and signed with written text on their doors.
- There are not manual doors in any circulation corridors; only to access stairwells.

Toilet Facilities

- The nearest toilets with adaptations are located in Laud and Newton.
- The male toilet facilities are located on the first floor, to the left at the landing on the Touchdown stairs, through the first set of doors at the entrance to Newton, and then on the right before the steps.
- The female toilet facilities are located on the second floor, to the left at the landing on the Touchdown stairs, through the first set of doors at the entrance to Newton, and then on the right before the steps.
Entrance (Main Block - Touchdown - From Anselm Courtyard)
- This entrance is located in the courtyard opposite Anselm, by the University Bookshop.
- The entrance area is clearly signed.
- There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
- There is step-free level access at the entrance.
- There is a single automatic door at this entrance.
- The door opens by sliding.
- The width of the opening is 94cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The door has a medium visual contrast.
Entrance (External Entrance)
- This entrance is located to the east of the building, leading in from the covered walkway opposite Fleming.
- The entrance area is clearly signed.
- There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at the entrance.
- There is stepped access at the entrance.
- There are 3 steps with handrails on both sides.
- The handrails are easy to grip.
- The handrails cover the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrails do not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The steps are clearly marked.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 18cm.
- The depth of the steps is between 30cm and 45cm.
- There is a single manual door at this entrance.
- The door opens towards you.
- The width of the opening is 99cm.
- There is a small lip on the threshold of the opening.
- The door has a low visual contrast.
- This entrance gives access directly to the bottom of the stairwell behind the bookshop.
Stairs (Behind Bookshop)
- The stairs surveyed are located immediately ahead as you enter the building through the external entrance.
- There is a single manual door to access the stairwell.
- The ground floor, first floor, second floor and third floor can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 18 steps between floors.
- The steps are clearly marked and have a handrail on the right going up.
- The handrail is not easy to grip.
- The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrail does not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 17cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
Stairs (Touchdown)
- The stairs surveyed are located within the Touchdown café inside Laud.
- There is a single manual door to access the stairwell.
- The ground floor, first floor, second floor and third floor can be accessed by these stairs.
- There are 19 steps between floors.
- The steps have some clear markings and have a handrail on the left going up.
- The handrail is not easy to grip.
- The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
- The handrail does not extend horizontally beyond the first and last step.
- The height of the steps is between 15cm and 18cm.
- The height of the highest step is 18cm.
- The depth of the steps is not between 30cm and 45cm.
- Lighting levels were even at the time of the survey.
- There are no doors to the stairwell on the ground floor.
Standard Toilet Facilities
- The male standard toilet facilities were surveyed.
- The toilets are located on the first floor, to the left at the landing on the Touchdown stairs, through the first set of doors at the entrance to Newton, and then on the right before the steps.
- The distance from the Touchdown stairs is 6m.
- The most accessible route has steps, manual doors, narrow walkways and narrow openings.
- There is step-free level access into the toilets.
- There is pictorial signage on or near the door.
- The door opens inwards and has a high visual contrast.
- The width of the door opening is 76cm.

- There are no ambulant toilet facilities available.
