Cricket clubs sit at the heart of communities across England, bringing people together through a shared love of the game. From village greens to thriving urban clubs, these spaces provide opportunities for participation, social connection, volunteering, and community engagement for people of all ages and backgrounds.
AccessAble is proud to be working in partnership with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to produce Detailed Access Guides for community cricket grounds across England. This project aims to provide clear, factual, and comprehensive accessibility information, enabling disabled people, their families, friends, and supporters to make informed decisions about visiting local cricket clubs. By improving access to reliable information, we hope to help create more inclusive environments and encourage wider participation in the sport.
One of the greatest strengths of local cricket clubs is their unique community spirit. Run largely by dedicated volunteers, these clubs are places where friendships are formed, generations come together, and people feel a genuine sense of belonging. Whether hosting matches, coaching junior players, organising social events, or supporting community initiatives, cricket clubs play a vital role in promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and connection within their local areas. Their commitment to welcoming members, players, spectators, and visitors reflects the values that make cricket such an important part of community life.
We would like to thank the ECB, participating cricket clubs, volunteers, and local communities for their support of this project. Together, we are helping to ensure that cricket grounds are more accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone.
