Introduction

  • Services / facilities within the building include sports and arts rehearsal facilities, various lecture theatres, teaching rooms and flexible study and office spaces from floor B2 to 2. The areas from floor 3 to 9 are mostly staff and postgraduate spaces. The entrances to the departments and hubs have key-card access. Students are allowed in these areas to access the individual study rooms or to meet staff.
  • The services on each floor are broken down below:

Location of Toilet/Changing Facilities

  • Changing Places facilities are located on the B2 (Basement 2) floor within the LSESU sports and arts area. It is next to the squash courts, female changing room and accessible toilet.
  • Accessible toilet facilities are located on floors B2 (close to squash courts), B1 (to the rear of LSESU reception), G (by main reception), 1 and 2 (to the side of the large open-plan study spaces) and from 3-9 (close to the entrances to the floors from the main/ east core lifts).
  • Female and male standard toilet facilities are located within the standard changing rooms on B2, by the main reception on G, to the sides of the large open plan study area on 1 and 2 and by the entrances from the main/ east core lifts on floor 6, 7 and 8. .
  • Gender Neutral standard toilet facilities are located by the main reception on G and by the entrances from the main/ east core lifts on floors 3, 4 and 5. .
  • Parent and baby changing facilities are located on the first floor to the side of the open-plan study area. It was not in order at time of survey (July 2022).

Getting Here

  • By Road View
    • The LSE campus is located in central London, off Kingsway (A4200) and the Aldwych (A4).
    • This campus does not have its own car park, but Blue Badge and standard on-street parking is available nearby.
  • By Bus View
    • The campus can be accessed via a number of London Bus routes, including bus 1 (New Oxford Street to Canada Water Bus Station), 59 (Streatham Hill to Kings Cross Station), 68 (West Norwood to Euston Bus Station), X68 (Croydon to Russell Square), 91 (Crouch End to Trafalgar Square), 168 (Royal Free Hospital to Old Kent Road), 171 (Catford to Holborn Station), 188 (North Greenwich Station to Russell Square Station) 243 (Wood Green to Waterloo Station) and 521 (Waterloo Station to London Bridge Station).
  • By Train View
    • The nearest railway station is Charing Cross. However, all of the London Terminal stations are within reach of the campus using public transport.

Sports Hall and Squash Courts - B2

  • The Sports Hall and Squash Courts are on the Basement 2 level.
  • The Sports Hall is shown in photographs 1-4. The heavy double doors, with one door locked, is 89cm wide, It opens towards you.
  • The Squash Courts are shown in photographs 5 and 6. The single doors open away from you and are 112cm wide. There are 2 identical courts.

Great Hall and Study Space on Floor 1 and 2

  • Photographs 1-8 show the ground floor open-plan space called the Great Hall. It has various types of seating: benches, armchairs, small booths, tables with chairs with armrests.
  • Photographs 9-15 show the flexible study space on the first and second floors with various types of seating: bench, booths with and without TV's, chairs without armrests, armchairs and high stools.
  • The majority of tables are around 70-75cm high.

Lecture Theatre(s) (1.04)

  • Signage for the lecture theatre(s) is not available in upper and lower case lettering that is clearly visible on or near the door.

It is accessed via 2 heavy, manual doors with locked extensions that are 83cm wide and open away from you as shown in photograph 1. They were signed 'no entry' at time of survey (July 2022). The key card readers are 105cm high.
    • There is 1 further heavy, single door that opens towards you and is 92cm wide before the cubicle door. It is shown in photograph 2.
