Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.
  • Sensory packs can be borrowed which include: ear defenders, fidget toys, binoculars, magnifying glass, soft toy, torch and accessible maps.
  • You can borrow these from the visitor reception. View more information about booking and collection of equipment.
  • You can borrow or hire the following mobility vehicles: a mobility scooter. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (Garden Rooms)

  • Turn right out of the visitor reception exit up a slight slope and right again along the tarmac road to the house.
    Take the path to the left of the house towards the rear of the house.
    When you reach the rear of the house turn right.
    Once passed the house turn left before the bridge archway, and take the far right hand entrance into the Exotic Garden via a green archway.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac, concrete and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is a shuttle which can take visitors to this area, but wheelchair users will need to transfer into it.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located via the Exotic Garden.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: cobbled and gravel.
