Equipment and Resources to Borrow

  • You can borrow or hire the following equipment: a mountain trike, a manual wheelchair and manual wheelchairs. It is highly recommended that these are booked in advance, where this is possible. Please check the National Trust website for details.

Route to (the Grounds)

  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is an accessible shuttle which can take visitors to this area.

Outdoor Spaces

  • This information is for the access point located near the Stable Yard.
  • There is step-free level access into the area.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: grass and bonded gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in some of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are some slopes located on the paths at the rear of the grounds.
  • The paths have gates which may create obstacles for some users.
  • There are several Cattle Grids located along some of the paths. There are gates to the side of the path to bypass the Cattle Grids.
    The gates are 140cm wide.

Hikes and Trails (Multi-Use Trail)

  • The hike is approximately 5.5 miles.
  • The Multi-Use Trail is a circular route going around the edge of the grounds.
  • The hike is not open 24 hours.
  • The route includes the following surfaces: bonded gravel.
  • Some of the route contains steep gradients.
  • These are found in the following areas: the rear area of the grounds.
  • The route is clearly signposted.
  • The route has information boards with large maps, handheld maps and online maps.
  • Seating is not available on the route.
  • There are no toilet facilities along the route.
  • There are several Cattle Grids located along some of the paths. There are gates to the side of the path to bypass the Cattle Grids.
    The gates are 140cm wide.
