Route Information
- The following information describes the route from Rotherham Interchange to Rotherham Visitor Centre.
- The approximate distance of this route is 0.24 miles.
- The route takes approximately 4-5 minutes to walk.
- The route leads from the interchange up Bridgegate to the visitor centre at the top of High Street.
- The majority of paths along the route are concrete paving or block paving with some moderate gradients in places.
- The potential hazards on this route include; busy roads, crossing points and congested pathways.
Starting Point - Rotherham Interchange
- Accessible toilets are available within the interchange.
- There is step-free access along the interchange platforms.
- There is step-free access when exiting the interchange.
- Car parking facilities are available with level access via a lift to the interchange.

Frederick Street to Bridgegate
- As you exit the Interchange from the West - A1 Entrance there is a pedestrian crossing immediately in front of you.
- This crossing point consists of three road crossings, including the bus station slip road and Frederick Street.
- Each crossing has tactile paving to either side.
- The first crossing has black and white road markings
- At the first crossing point traffic is coming from both sides.
- Once across the first crossing turn left to cross the second and third crossing.
- At the second crossing point traffic is coming from your right.
- At the third crossing point traffic is coming from your left.
- There is step free access throughout this part of the route.
- After completing the third crossing go straight ahead onto Bridgegate.
- Follow Bridgegate for approximately 30m until you reach the dropped kerb.
- There is a slight downward gradient in the path and the surface is made of concrete slabs.
- At the dropped curb cross the road on the left and proceed up Bridgegate for 40m past the bollards.
- The road now becomes pedestrianised and the surface changes from concrete slabs to block paving.
- There is a moderate gradient in the path.
Bridgegate to Church Street
- Continue along Bridgegate.
- The paving along this section is a mixture of paving slabs and block paving.
- The paving slabs can be slippery when wet.
- The left side of the pavement is level.
- On the right hand side of the path there is a slope.
- There are benches along this section of the route.
- After approximately 50m turn right to onto Church Street.
Church Street to High Street
- After turning left onto Church Street proceed ahead towards High Street.
- The ground here is a long slight gradient upwards.
- The ground here is block paving, however there is also a pavement made of paving slabs.
- This area is pedestrianised, however there is a chance of delivery vehicles or other vehicles using the area, so caution is advised.
- After approximately 200m you will come to some bollards.
- The width between the bollards is 135cm.
- Continue ahead to the junction with High Street and turn left.
High Street to Rotherham Visitor Centre
- After turning left onto High Street proceed ahead to Rotherham Visitor Centre.
- This is a pedestrianised area, however there is a chance of delivery vehicles in the area, so caution is advised.
- The ground here is a long slight gradient downwards.
- The ground is block paved.
- There are benches along this section.
- After approximately 100m you will come to Rotherham Visitor Centre on the left.
