About Sidney Sussex College

Founded on St. Valentine's Day in 1596 by legacy of Lady Frances Sidney, Countess of Sussex.

Sidney Sussex College is renowned across the University and Cambridge Colleges for its warm community spirit, beautiful gardens, city centre location, and unpretentious and friendly atmosphere.

Sidney is right in the heart of Cambridge. Our students instantly become immersed in the bustling student atmosphere of the city.

Despite our city centre location, within the College walls you'll find a remarkably peaceful space where you can explore Sidney's stunning gardens, get down to some study, eat in the beautiful dining hall, or hang out with friends.

Sidney has a well-stocked library and computer suite, squash court, gym, event rooms, a student-run bar, several music practice rooms, and access to some of the best outdoor sports facilities in Cambridge.

Oh and don’t forget the most famous Alumnus, Oliver Cromwell!
