Access Guide
Introduction
- Discover Newmarket tours runs a series of guided tours of Newmarket to a number of venues including the National Horseracing Museum. The tour consists of 2 or 3 stops at locations that vary from tour to tour, before heading to the National Stud, and then returning to the National Horseracing Museum. Patrons of the tour may be located within the National Horseracing Museum.

- The company will remove 4 seats to make space for a wheelchair user.
- The front entrance has 2 steps that are 14cm deep and have handrails each side.
- There is a narrow aisle from the front seat to the rear of the bus.
- The is an alternative bus available which does not have lift access, and a black cab available for VIP tours.

- The accessible tour bus will always be used for tours if requested.

The Gallops

Stables

- Paths and surfaces around the stables may have slopes, be muddy and uneven.
- At the stables visited during the survey, there were tarmac, uneven block paving and concrete surfaces.
- The stables are a working environment and therefore horses may be moved or ridden around the site during the visit.
The National Stud
- The pathways throughout the farm are tarmac, rubber, and mostly even.
- There are several benches throughout the public areas.
- There are large doors to access the covering shed which will be opened by the tour guide (photograph 6).
- There is a shallow step to access the covering shed (photograph 7).
- The main surface of the covering shed is uneven.
