Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • There is an assistance dog toilet or toileting area at the venue/nearby.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • There is a designated place of safety which can be used by people who may feel scared or at risk.
  • The classrooms in the Core Building can be used as a quiet space.
  • All-terrain Tramper mobility scooter.
    The Eden Project partner with Countryside Mobility to offer an all-terrain ‘Tramper’ mobility scooter, enabling you to discover our extensive Outdoor Gardens and estate.
    The Tramper is able to take on the steeper gradients of our former clay-pit, the Tramper allows previously challenging areas to be easily explored. As there is only one Tramper available for hire, it is strongly recommended to book ahead. There is a hire charge for this service. If you would like to book a Tramper please get in touch directly with the Eden Team on [email protected] or call us on 01726 811 911.
  • The Eden Project has a number of manual wheelchairs (approximately 25) which are free of charge and available to borrow on a first come first served basis.
    Booking is not necessary for the manual chairs.
    These are available in the Apple car parks and visitor centre.
    All wheelchairs are routinely cleaned by stewarding staff before and after use.
    The Eden Project has eight powered chairs (subject to operational availability) which are available to book in advance; we recommend one month's notice to avoid disappointment.
    The weight limit for these chairs is 21 stone; you can find out more in our powered wheelchair safety guide.

  • There is a text reader that can be borrowed to read and interpret signs.

Entrance (From Visitor Centre to the Outdoor Gardens, Biomes and Core Building)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located just beyond the ticket counter.
    • The entrance area/door is clearly signed.
    • This entrance is signed with 'TRANSFORMATION: it's in our nature'.
    • There is step-free access at this entrance.
    • The entrance door(s) does/do contrast visually with its immediate surroundings.

    • The door(s) may be difficult to open.
    • The width of the opening is 190cm.
    • The doors are permanently held open during warmer weather. The doors are only closed in colder weather to conserve heat. Staff can provide assistance with the doors if needed.

Access To (Core Building from the Visitor Centre)

  • The following is the easy access route from the visitor centre to the Core Building.
  • After exiting the visitor centre there is clear signage directing visitors to turn right for the easy access route.
    There are two slopes which lead down to a bridge crossing the opening of the quarry.
    There is bench seating at the start of the bridge. After the bridge, follow the path till you reach the lift which goes down to the Core Building.
  • The gradient of the ramp/slope is steep.
  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • A member of staff does not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • Clear signs indicating the facilities on each floor are not provided on lift lobby landings.
  • There is a clear level manoeuvring space of 150cm × 150cm in front of the lift.
  • Lift doors do contrast visually with lift lobby walls.
  • The external controls for the lift are within 90cm - 110cm from the floor.
  • The colour contrast between the external lift controls and the control plate is good.
  • The colour contrast between the external lift control plate and the wall is good.
