- Roberts Building and Darwin Extension is a very large building with 14 floors.
- There are 2 main lifts, 1 platform lift and 4 main staircases within the building.
- The floors are signed as -2, -1, Ground, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11.
- There is internal step-free access between the Roberts Building and Darwin Extension and the Engineering Front Building on the ground, first, second, third and fourth floors. There is internal step-free access between the Roberts Building and Darwin Extension and the Malet Place Engineering Building on the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh floors.

- The venue does not have its own car park.
- The nearest train station is Euston Train Station.

Getting Inside
- The approach to the building is step-free via a very easy slope.
- Roberts Building and Darwin Extension has four external entrances and eleven internal entrances from the Malet Place Engineering Building and the Engineering Front Building.
The main entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor.
The double doors are automatic (the alternative being manual double doors). - The front entrance is signed as UCL Engineering Main Entrance.
The other entrances are not signed. - The main entrance provides step-free level access to the reception on the ground floor.
- The external entrances are as follows:
The Darwin Extension entrance is located off Darwin Walk at the rear of Roberts Building and has stepped access. There is a slight ramp that overcomes these steps.
The shared rear entrance for the Roberts Building is located off Darwin Walk and has stepped access. There is a slight ramp that overcomes these steps.
The side entrance for the Roberts Building is located off Malet Place on the right hand side of the building and has stepped access.
The internal entrances are as follows:
First floor
There are two single automatic doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
There are double manual doors from the Engineering Front Building.
Second Floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
There is a single automatic door from the Engineering Front Building.
Third floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
There is an automatic door from the Engineering Front Building with a steep ramp beyond the door.
Fourth floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
There is an automatic door from the Engineering Front Building with level access.
Fifth floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
Sixth floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
Seventh floor
There are two single manual doors from the Malet Place Engineering Building via the link bridge.
Getting Around (Roberts Building)
- There is step-free level access throughout the building up to the ninth floor.
- There are 3 steps with handrails on either side to access the eleventh floor corridor.
- Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish. There are also carpeted surfaces along circulation routes.
- There are seating areas in the lift lobbies with a mixture of seating.
- Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
- There are manual doors along circulation routes throughout the building.
Getting Around (Darwin Extension)
- There is step-free access throughout majority of the building.
- On floor -2 there are 12 steps with handrails on both sides to access Lab LB18 and LB19. Alternatively there is a platform lift that overcomes the steps. Chemical Engineering and Labs LB20 - LB26 are stepped access only.
- On floor -1 there are 4 steps with a handrail on both sides to access the Electrochemical Innovation Lab. Alternatively there is a platform lift that overcomes the steps.
- On the sixth floor there is a steep ramp and 3 steps with no handrail to access Laboratory – 621.
- Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth with a shiny finish.
- There are no resting areas in circulation routes.
- Wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
- There are manual doors along circulation routes throughout the building.

- The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.
