Getting Inside
- There are uneven surfaces on approach to the building.
- The main entrance is shared with the Austin Building and provides step-free level access to the ground floor of both the Cockcroft and Austin Buildings.
There is a separate stepped entrance which accesses the first floor of the Cockcroft Building. - The main entrance is shared with the Austin Building is signed with directions on how to reach the Titan rooms.
The stepped entrance is not signed. - The main entrance provides level access to the ground floor Cockcroft Building lift and the staircase that the Cockcroft Building shares with the Austin Building.
The stepped entrance accesses the first floor stairwell of the rear staircase which contains the female standard toilets and access to the rear of the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre. - The stepped entrance is accessed by 20 steps and a set of double manual doors.
Getting Around
- There is a step free access throughout the majority of the building.
- Step free access to Titan Room 2 on the second floor is only available via travelling through Titan Room 1.
Step free access to the adapted toilet and the female standard toilets on the second floor is only available via travelling through Titan Room 1 and Titan Room 2.
There is no step-free access to the male toilets on the first floor. - Floor surfaces vary along circulation routes with some having a shiny finish.
- There are limited resting areas in the building.
- Overhead and wall mounted signage is provided throughout the building.
- The doors around on the second floor of the building are automatic.

- The toilet with adaptations is located on the second floor after passing through Titan Room 1 and Titan Room 2.

- The lift surveyed is located near the shared staircase between the Austin Building and the Cockcroft Building.
- The distance from Cockcroft Lecture Theatre entrance is 20m.
- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access and automatic doors.
- Ground floor (Austin and Cockcroft), first floor (Cockcroft), first floor (Austin) , second floor (Cockcroft), second floor (Austin), third floor (Cockcroft), third floor (Austin), fourth floor (Cockcroft) and fourth floor (Austin) are accessed by this lift.
- The lift door has a high visual contrast.
- The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- The external lift control buttons have tactile markings and a high visual contrast.
- None of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
