Security Barriers

  • There is also an accessible barrier here (photograph 3), which is 91cm wide, with a key card reader 82cm high.
  • There is a similar accessible gate at the far end of the ground floor atrium area, by the cafe (shown in photograph 4).
  • These barriers gives access to the main lifts and stairs.
  • The rest of the ground floor also requires key card access, except the reception, lecture room, cafe and cafe toilets.

Getting Around

  • Access View
    • There is step free access throughout the building.
    • There is a steep ramp, with no handrails, for access to Cold Room L01-R59 on the first floor.
    • The width of the ramp is 122cm (4ft).
    • This ramp, located just off the central corridor on the first floor, is shown in photograph 1. There are identical ramps leading to the cold rooms on the second and third floors (shown in photographs 2 and 3).
    • There is a slight ramp, with no handrails, for access to the Darkroom.
    • The width of the ramp is 73cm (2ft 5in).
    • This ramp is shown in photograph 4. The Darkroom is located off the central corridor on the basement level.

  • Getting Around View

    • Photograph 12 shows a height adjustable desk. There are 2 of these available in the write up areas on floors 1 - 5.
    • Photograph 13 shows the height adjustable bench on the first floor. There is also one located on the second floor.
    • There are also fixed benches of different heights available (shown on photograph 14).
    • Photographs 15 and 16 show one of the kitchen / social areas available on each floor.

Lift
