Access To (MSM Library)

  • The MSM Library is located within the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy Building, straight ahead and to the left as you enter through the main entrance, at the far end of the atrium on floor 0.

    • Outside of term time, the library is open from 08:00 - 12:15 Monday to Thursday, and 08:15 - 12:15 on Friday. It is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Library (MSM Library)

  • There is step-free level access throughout the library.
  • Access throughout the library may include narrow walkways and narrow openings.
  • There is some room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm).
  • There is space for an assistance dog to rest in the seating area.

  • The library is located in the atrium, which has a large amount of natural light. As such, while adjustable, lighting levels may vary depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.
  • The height of the touchscreen display ranges from 111cm to 134cm from the floor.
  • The self-service book borrow/return touchscreen is on a table at a height of 93cm. There is a manual form you can fill in, which is placed on this table, should you encounter any problems with using the touchscreen.
    Outside the MSM Library, there is a book return bin, with its slot at a height of 70cm.
    The library is staffed whenever it is open, and the librarian would be happy to help should you require any assistance.

    The library does not have a computer area.
