Introduction

  • This route is from Stratford Station main entrance to the Stratford Campus main reception, in the Conference and Computer Centre.
  • This is via the Stratford Centre Shopping Centre.

Outside Access (Stratford Station Entrance)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the station.
  • There is level access into the venue.
  • There are no doors at this entrance.

Square Outside Stratford Station

  • On leaving the station, turn left and follow the block paving and moderate slope up to the crossing.

Crossing Great Eastern Road

  • At the top of the slope leading from the station, there are bollards, 118 cm wide, which lead to the crossing.
  • This is a pelican crossing, with buttons 102cm high.
  • There is a dropped kerb with tactile paving both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface and a moderate slope leading down to the far side.

Path To The Entrance To The Stratford Centre

  • Beyond the crossing there are bollards, 103cm wide, followed by a moderate slope with a block paving surface leading down to the shopping centre entrance.

Outside Access (Entrance To The Stratford Centre)

  • This information is for the entrance located off Great Eastern Road.
  • The main doors open automatically.
  • The doors are double width.
  • The door opening is 156cm (5ft 1in) wide.

The Stratford Centre

  • The route through the shopping centre to the exit to Broadway is in almost a straight line, veering off to the right slightly about halfway through.
  • The centre is level with a tile/vinyl surface.
  • The first part of the shopping centre contains market stalls in the centre of the walkway, so this area can be busy and congested.

Outside Access (Exit From The Stratford Centre)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the far end, leading out to Broadway.
  • The main doors open automatically.
  • The doors are single width.
  • The door opening is 92cm (3ft 0in) wide.

    • The automatic door is push pad operated.
    • There are also single and double manual doors here, which may be held open during warm weather.

Slope Leading From The Stratford Centre Exit

  • There is a moderate slope with a large slab block paving surface, leading from the exit up to the Broadway service road.

Broadway Service Road to the Grove

  • At the top of the slope turn left and follow the path between the shopping centre and the service road until you reach the Grove. A distance of approximately 245m.
  • This path has a block and brick block surface and a moderate slope leading up in places.
  • There are market stalls along this path, so it can get busy and congested.
  • Upon reaching the Grove, turn right and head for the road crossing shown in photograph 6.

Crossing The Grove

  • The crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope up.
  • The traffic travels in both directions.

The Grove to Romford Road

  • After crossing the Grove, turn right and head towards Romford Road. A distance of 65m.
  • There is a slight downhill gradient as you head towards Romford Road.
  • The surface of the pavement is block paving with the occasional brick block paved section.

Romford Road, In Front Of The Ibis Hotel

  • After reaching Romford Road turn left, in front of the Ibis hotel.
  • This path has a block and brick block paving surface with easy slopes.

Crossing The Ibis Hotel And Morrisons Service Road

  • Past the Ibis Hotel there is a service road, which has a dropped kerb with tactile paving both sides.
  • The road surface is tarmac with a line of bricks following the route.
  • There is also a drain in front of the first dropped kerb to be wary of.

Romford Road, In Front Of Solar House

  • Follow the path beside Romford Road, which has a brick block and block paving surface, with moderate then easy slopes.
  • The path is 104cm wide at its narrowest.

Crossing Litchfield Avenue

  • This crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope.

Continuing Along Romford Road

  • The path here has a block and brick block paving surface, with moderate slopes.

Crossing Deanery Road

  • This is a pelican crossing, with buttons 102cm high.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The road has a tarmac surface with an easy slope, uneven in places.

Continuing Along Romford Road To Water Lane

  • The path here has a concrete then a concrete and block paving surface, uneven in places.

  • The path has a block paving surface as you approach the crossing, except passing the Romford Road crossing, where there is a tarmac slope leading to tactile paving.

Crossing Water Lane

  • This is a pelican crossing, with buttons 101cm high.

  • The road has a tarmac surface with a moderate slope.

Water Lane

  • Turn left after the crossing, and follow the path alongside the Stratford Campus.
  • This path has a block paving surface with moderate and easy slopes leading to dropped kerbs for service roads into the campus.
  • The dropped kerbs do not have tactile paving.
  • The service roads have a brick block paving surface.

The Green

  • Turn right into The Green.
  • The path here has a large slab block paving surface with a concrete edge.
  • It is 190cm wide at its narrowest.

In Front Of The Conference And Computer Centre

  • At the end of the path along The Green, there is an easy tarmac slope, leading to bollards, 130cm wide.
  • Beyond these, the area has a brick block paving then a concrete/gravel surface with easy slopes leading to the entrance.

Outside Access (Conference And Computer Centre Main Entrance)

  • This information is for the entrance located at the front of the building.
  • The bell is not in a suitable position to allow wheelchair users to gain access.
  • The intercom is not in a suitable position to allow wheelchair users to gain access.
  • The main door(s) open(s) automatically.
  • The door(s) is / are double.
  • The width of the door opening is 210cm (6ft 11in).

Security Reception

  • The Security Reception is located directly to the right as you enter the main entrance.
  • It is high but does not have a lowered counter.

Ramp To The Main Reception

  • Just inside the main entrance there is a moderate ramp, with a carpet/mat then vinyl surface.
  • It leads up to the main reception.

Main Reception

  • The reception desk is medium height.
  • The desk has a lowered section.
  • Lighting levels are bright.
  • This is the main reception for the Stratford Campus.
  • Visitors provided with a pass to the car park will return to their car.
  • Reception staff will direct you to the car park.
