Introduction

Elm Grove Conference Centre to the Digby Stuart College Pedestrian Entrance

  • Exit Elm Grove Conference Centre and turn right towards the main gates.
  • This area has an even and level, stone block surface.
  • Head straight past the end of the building and cross the shared space road.
  • There are low level bollards at this crossing marking each side of the shared space road which are approximately 230cm apart.
  • This crossing is level with no tactile paving (photographs 2 to 4).
  • Bear left around the guard post building and continue onto Roehampton Lane (photograph 5).
  • The main gate is 160cm wide and permanently held open (photograph 6).
  • Continue onto Roehampton Lane and follow the pavement around to the right (photographs 7 to 9).
  • The pavement has an even and level concrete block surface.
  • There is a line of tactile paving after approximately 5m, marking the crossing across the University Entrance (photograph 7).
  • Once around the corner the gradient increases to a slight uphill gradient (photographs 9 and 10).
  • After approximately 50m there is a dropped kerb on the left and a line of tactile paving across the path for a traffic light crossing across Roehampton Lane (photograph 11).
  • Continue straight along Roehampton Lane.
  • The pavement has a concrete slab and brick block surface with a slight gradient.
  • After approximately 25m there is a signpost on the left of the pavement narrowing the available width to 150cm (photograph 12).
  • Continue for another 5m to cross a university access road (photographs 13 and 14).
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs on the far side and level access to the left on the near side with no tactile paving.
  • There is no public vehicle access at this entrance.
  • After crossing and on the immediate right is the pedestrian entrance for Digby Stuart College, with the Stuart Lodge Campus Services building just inside on the left.

Digby Stuart College Pedestrian Entrance to Clarence Lane

  • Continue straight along Roehampton Lane.
  • This section of pavement has a level concrete and brick block surface.
  • After approximately 20m there is a section of tactile paving with a dropped kerb on the left of the pavement (photograph 2).
  • After approximately 140m cross the Roehampton University Deliveries Entrance.
  • This crossing is level with no tactile paving (photographs 5 and 6).
  • Continue straight along Roehampton Lane.
  • The Queen Marys Hospital Bus Stop is located on the left of the pavement after approximately 10m.
  • The pavement has a tarmac surface on the right and a brick and concrete block surface on the left level.
  • After approximately 60m there is a line of tactile paving (photograph 9) for a traffic light controlled crossing on the left.
  • There is a similar line of tactile paving after 30m for another traffic light controlled crossing across Roehampton Lane (photograph 11).
  • Cross the Froebel College entrance after approximately 70m.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs on both sides with no tactile paving (photographs 13 and 14).
  • Continue straight towards Clarence Lane.
  • There is a line of tactile paving for a traffic light controlled crossing on the left (photograph 15) after another 15m.
  • Cross Clarence Lane at the traffic light controlled crossing directly ahead.
  • This crossing has dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides (photographs 17 and 18).
  • There is a control box 104cm high and rotating cones.
  • The crossing has no audible warning.

Clarence Lane to Downshire House

  • Continue straight along Roehampton Lane.
  • The pavement has a brick block surface for approximately 10m become concrete slab and brick block.
  • A line of tactile paving marks a set of traffic lights on left to cross. Roehampton Lane, shown in photograph 1.
  • There is a dropped kerb on the left which marks the Cedar Cottages car entrance. This is shown in photograph 4, there is no tactile paving or level change on the pavement.
  • The Clarence Lane bus stop located on the left of the pavement. This may cause a congested pavement at peak times.
  • This bus stop is shown in photograph 5.
  • A line of tactile paving marks a traffic light controlled crossing on the left to cross Roehampton Lane. This crossing is shown in photograph 7.
  • Opposite the traffic light crossing is the main entrance to Downshire House.
  • This entrance is sloped with one central bollard and 140cm clearance on each side. This entrance is shown in photograph 8.
