Introduction

Duke Street Car Park

  • The pay and display car park is accessed off Duke Street.
  • The car park is not a University of Suffolk run car park and is open to the general public.
  • It has clearly sign posted pay and display machines.
  • There are seven clearly marked blue badge bays situated near Neptune Quay.
  • There have dimensions of 250cm x 600cm and hatch marked of 120cm.
  • There is a steep slope to access Neptune quay located near the Blue Badge bays (photograph 12).

Duke Street Car Park to Fore Street

  • Upon exiting the car park turn right and head towards Fore Street along Neptune Quay a distance of approximately 185m.
  • The surface of the street is a mixture of block paving and brick block pavement.
  • There are bollards along the pavement with a minimum width of 90cm and a maximum width of 140cm (photograph 1).
  • After the barriers head onto the pavement to the left of Neptune Quay to avoid walking in the middle of the road. Vehicles may use the road though traffic is limited (photographs 2, 3, 4 and 5).
  • Continue along the pavement until you pass Coprolite Street then cross Neptune Quay before turning left and continuing up the quay towards Fore Street.
  • At the crossing the pavement is level with the road on both sides (photographs 6 and 7).
  • Continue along the pavement for approximately 55m (photographs 8 and 9) and turn right towards Fore Street passed the Waterfront Building (photographs 10 and 11).
  • The main entrance to the Waterfront building can be seen in photograph 12 and is situated just to your right as you reach Fore Street.

Fore Street Crossing to Long Street

  • Head across Fore Street and turn left to reach Long Street a distance of approximately 70m.
  • There are bollards on approach to the crossing with a width of 200cm (photographs 1 and 2).
  • There are traffic lights on either side of the road with controls at a height of 100cm and rotating cones.
  • There are also tactile dropped kerbs on either side of the road.
  • The crossing can be seen in in photographs (3, 4, 5 and 6).
  • Upon crossing the road turn right and head along the block paved pavement for approximately 60m to reach as you head up a slight uphill gradient (photographs 7, 8, 9 and 10).

Long Street to the Library

  • Follow the path to the left going uphill past the Long Street Car Park until you reach the Library a distance of approximately 125m.
  • The path is block paved and there is a slight uphill slope (photographs 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5).
  • After approximately 75m there is a Zebra Crossing across the road leading into the Long Street car park. There are drop kerbs on either side of the road (photograph 6).
  • After the crossing the path surface is tarmac (photographs 7 and 8) there is a Zebra crossing which has tactile paving on either side of the road (photographs 9, 10 and 11).
  • If you follow the path directly ahead of you for approximately 20m after crossing the road you will arrive at the library main entrance (photograph 12).

Library to the Atrium Building

  • Head along the path to your block paved pavement with a slight downhill slope to your left for approximately 40m (photographs 1 and 2).
  • There is a small section of the pavement which is tactile as you reach the Atrium Building which has a steep slope (photographs 3 and 4).
  • Turn right and head towards the Atrium Building (photographs 5 and 6).
  • The block paved route to the entrance can be seen in photographs 7 and 8.

Approach (Main Entrance)

  • Approach View
    • The surface of the approach is block paving.
  • Ramp/Slope View
    • There is a ramp/slope on the approach.
    • The ramp/slope is permanent, has a slight gradient and has no handrails.
    • There is not a level landing at the top of the ramp/slope.
    • The ramp/slope does bypass the step(s).
  • Step(s) View
    • There is a/are step(s) on the approach.
    • There is/are 4 unmarked step(s), with no handrails.
    • The height of the step(s) is/are between the recommended 15cm and 18cm.
    • The height of the step(s) is/are 18cm.
    • The depth of the step(s) is/are not between the recommended 30cm and 45cm.

Outside Access (Main Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located to the front right of the building.
    • This entrance gives access to the ground floor.
    • The entrance area/door is clearly signed.
    • This entrance is signed with 'THE ATRIUM'.
    • There is ramped/sloped access at this entrance.
    • There is a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance.
    • The entrance door(s) does not/do not contrast visually with its immediate surroundings.
    • There is not a bell/buzzer.
    • There is not an intercom.
    • A key card is required for access at this entrance.
    • The height of the key card reader is 92cm.
    • The main door(s) open(s) automatically (away from you).
    • There is a push pad/button to exit the main automatic doors.
    • The exit push pad or push button is 114cm from floor level.
    • The door(s) is/are double width.
    • The width of the door opening is 166cm.
    • There is a small lip on the threshold of the entrance, with a height of 2cm or below.
