Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free and level, with some uneven surfaces in some places.
  • Lady Byron has two entrances doors that are next to each other in the same location.
  • The accessible entrance is a single width automatic door.
  • The main entrance is an automatic revolving door.
  • Both provide step-free access via a ramp to the St Mary's Road reception on floor G.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the majority of the building.
  • On floor 3, there are three steps on the right side of the main corridor leading to the IT offices. These steps have handrails on both sides that are reachable at the same time.
  • There are two sets of stairs on both floors 2 and 3 - both leading from the main lift to the main corridor on these floors.
  • When exiting the lift, one of these sets of stairs is located ahead and to your left, and the other is ahead and to your right. The stairs photographed in this section show the stairs to your left, which do not have a stair lift. The stairs to your right do have a stair lift that can be used to overcome the stairs. These stair lifts are detailed as lifts within this access guide.
  • Floor surfaces along all circulation routes are hard and smooth, with some having a shiny finish and some being carpeted.
  • There are seating areas with a mixture of seating predominantly on floor G, and some along the main corridor on each floor.
  • Overhead and wall mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are manual doors and permanently held open doors along circulation routes throughout the building.
