Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free level.
  • If parked in central car park 2.4, there are steep ramps/slopes and bollards on the approach to the building (University Road side) from the car park.
  • Spring Lane Building has two entrances. The campus side entrance provides step-free level access to the lower ground floor.
    The University Road side entrance provides step-free level access to the ground floor.
    There are push-pad activated, single automatic doors available at both entrances.
  • The entrances are not differentiated by name for this building.
  • The campus side entrance provides step-free level access to the lower ground floor.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors, and to all floors, via lift.
  • Between the lower ground floor and the ground floor, there are 13 clearly marked steps, with handrails on both sides and a maximum height of 16cm. The minimum tread depth is 27cm.
    These are bypassed by an enclosed platform lift, with a door width of 89cm, and dimensions of 93cm x 143cm.
  • Floor surfaces along circulation routes consist of shiny concrete tiles and low pile carpet, some of which is patterned.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas of the building with a mixture of seating.
  • Overhead and wall-mounted wayfinding signage is provided throughout the building.
  • There are not manual doors in any circulation corridors. However, there are two sets of push-pad activated double automatic doors to access the main lift and stairs by the campus side entrance on each floor. The automatic function on some of these doors was not working when the building was surveyed (January 2025). There are double manual doors to access all other stairs, except for the central stairs in the atrium.

A privacy curtain is available, as is an emergency pull cord alarm (which is out of reach). The shower has lever mixer controls.
