Introduction

  • There are four car parks at the Glasnevin campus. There are Blue Badge bays in each car park. Please park at the following locations:- Car Park 1 (Multi-storey) - Visitors, invited guests, staff and students. Car Park 2 (Creche) - Staff and students. Car Park 3 (Invent) - Staff and Students. Car Park 4 (Library) - Staff and Students.
  • There is parking at the Sports Complex for Members only. There is parking at the Campus Residences for residents only.

Getting Here (Glasnevin Campus)

  • By Road View
    • From the M50 take the R108 Ballymun Road exit (Junction 4). At the junction take the R108 Ballymun Road south. Continue 2km to the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road crossroads.
      For Dublin City University Glasnevin campus main entrance and car parks 1 and 2, turn left on to Collins Avenue. Dublin City University is located 700m to the right after the third set of traffic lights on Collins Avenue.
      For Dublin City University Glasnevin campus residences and car parks 3 and 4, continue straight ahead on Ballymun Road for 500m to the traffic lights. DCU is located to the left.
      From City Centre: - Follow the airport road towards the M1. Continue until you reach the junction at Whitehall. At this crossroads, turn left onto Collins Avenue. Continue along Collins Avenue until you pass St. Aidan’s CBS on your left-hand side. DCU is located just after the school.
    • There are two car parks off Collins Avenue: Car Park 1 multi-storey for staff, students, visitors and guests; and Car Park 2 surface car park for staff and student permit holders.
      There are two car parks off Ballymun Road: Car Parks 3 and 4 for staff and student permit holders.
  • By Bus View
    • Buses 16, 31d, 42d, 44, 70d, 104, 220 and 220A stop on campus by The Helix (Stop # 7571). Buses 109a and 126 stop on Collins Ave (Stop # 135021). Buses 4, 9, 11, 13 stop on Ballymun Road (Stop # 37/4680).
  • By Train View
    • The nearest station Drumcondra is 3.3km away. There is level access to the ticket office and lifts to both platforms.
      The nearest Dart station is Killester, 5.4km away. There is level access to the ticket office and ramps to the platforms.

Outside Access (Car Park 1 Pedestrian Entrance)

  • Entrance View
    • This information is for the entrance located opposite the Estates Office Building.
    • There is step free access at this entrance.

Level Change (Vehicle Entrance and Exit)

Reception (Car Park 1 Security Reception)

  • Comments View
    • There is stepped only access to the reception. From the front of the car park this is via eight steps with a handrail of the right which make up the entrance point at the vehicle entrance and exit.

Other Floors (Car Park 1 Multi Storey)

  • Steps View
    • The floors which are accessible by stairs are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
    • The stairs are located to your left on entrance via the pedestrian entrance.
    • The stairs are approximately 20m from the pedestrian entrance.
    • There are 15+ steps between floors.
    • There are manual, single doors which may be difficult to open to access the stairwell on all floors.
    • The lighting levels are good.
    • The steps are clearly marked.
    • The steps are deep (18cm+).
    • The steps do have handrails.
    • The steps have a handrail on both sides.
    • There is a landing.
    • There are numerous similar staircases around the car park an example can be seen in photograph 2.

Lift (Car Park 1 Multi storey Lift)

  • There is a lift for public use.
  • The lift is located in front of you on entrance via the pedestrian entrance.
  • The lift is a standard lift.
  • The floors which are accessible by this lift are 0, 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A.
  • Wall mounted information boards are not provided at lift landings.
  • The weight limit for the lift is 1000kg.
  • The lift is approximately 5m (5yd 1ft) from the pedestrian entrance.
  • Staff do not need to be notified for use of the lift.
  • The clear door width is 90cm (2ft 11in).
  • The dimensions of the lift are 160cm x 140cm (5ft 3in x 4ft 7in).
  • There are not separate entry and exit doors in the lift.
  • There is a mirror to aid reversing out of the lift.
  • The lift does have a visual floor indicator.
  • The lift does not have an audible announcer.
  • The lift does not have a hearing enhancement system.
  • The lift does have Braille markings.
  • The lift does have tactile markings.
  • The controls for the lift are within 90cm - 120cm from the floor.
  • The lighting level in the lift is good.

    • There are upper and lower areas on each floor.
    • The upper area are 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A and all have blue badge bays on these floors. There is no lift access to the lower floor 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
