Getting Help and Assistance

  • There is a member of staff available for help and assistance.
  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There is a designated place of safety which can be used by people who may feel scared or at risk.
  • The designated place of safety is located at the rear of the Castle Courtyard, beneath the Time Tower.
  • There are a limited number of wheelchairs and mobility scooters available.
    These are free to hire.
    Scooters should be booked in advance of your visit.
    Wheelchairs are offered on a first come first served basis.
    Warwick Castle is part of the Sunflower Lanyard Scheme. The free lanyards can be collected from the Castle Entrance.
  • Disabled guests are welcomed to visit with a free carer ticket. Please select the carer ticket from the options and bring valid documentation with you (as a condition of entry).
  • During busier periods Fast Tract Queuing is available for an individual and their carer, please speak to a member of staff for more information.
  • Quiet Times and Spaces - January to March (excluding half term) are generally quieter months, as is November.
    Mid-week also tends to be quieter than weekends throughout the year.
    10.00 to 11.00 and 15.00 to 16.00 are generally quieter times.

    Due to the claustrophobic nature of some areas, this attraction may not be suitable for some guests with hidden disabilities.
    The full route around the Towers and Ramparts has 540 steps.
  • The nearest changing places is located to the right of the Conservatory Tea House.

  • The nearest accessible toilet is located within the Great Hall and Upper State Rooms, ahead as you enter from the accessible entrance.
  • The nearest standard toilets are located at the rear of the castle courtyard, in the Undercroft, there is stepped only access to these toilets.

Access Point (Castle Courtyard to Ramparts)

  • Access Point View
    • There is a small opening width of 63cm which leads to a set of 22 steps.
    • This information is for the access point located to the left as you walk through Clarence Bridge.
    • There is stepped access at this access point.
    • There is open access.
    • The width of the gap is 61cm.
    • There is an information board/map at this access point.

Ramparts to Guy's Tower

  • The route along the Ramparts to Guy’s Tower has stepped access.
  • There are viewing points located along the Ramparts.
  • There are metal fences alongside the paths.
  • There are sets of steps located between the pathways.
  • There are information boards located along the pathway at various points.
  • There is a spiral staircase from the Ramparts to the top of Guy’s Tower.
  • There is a handrail on the left as you go up the steps.
  • The number of steps along this part of the route varies between 3 and 75, depending on location.
  • The steps are not clearly marked.
  • There is a viewing point and information boards at the top of Guy’s Tower.
  • There is an emergency call point and a defibrillator at the top of Guy's Tower.
  • From Guy's Tower visitors can either take a second spiral staircase down to the door, which leads to the second part of the Ramparts leading to Caesars Tower, or follow the staircase to the bottom to exit into the Courtyard.

Attraction Space(s) (Guy's Tower – Poitiers Room)

  • There is not step free access throughout this attraction space.
  • The War Room is located on the descent down the spiral staircase of Guy's Tower.
    There is a small step located on the walkway around the room.
  • The type of flooring in the attraction space is wood.
  • There is not seating available within the attraction space.
  • During busy periods the attraction space can become congested.
  • Visitors can move around this area in any direction.
  • Information in this area is presented by: information board and television/screen.

Guy's Tower to Caesar’s Tower and the Courtyard

  • From Guy's Tower the route goes down a separate spiral staircase.
  • Halfway down the staircase there is the War Room with an audio/visual presentation projected on the walls.
  • Further down the stairs is a door leading to the rest of the Ramparts that lead to Caesar's Tower.
  • There are metal fences alongside the paths.
  • There are sets of steps located along the Ramparts.
  • The number of steps along the Ramparts varies between 2 and 23, depending on location.
  • The steps are not clearly marked.
  • There are handrails on the left or right going up or metal grab rails on the steps.
  • There are information boards located along the pathway at various points.
  • At Caesar’s Tower there is spiral staircase which leads down to the Castle Courtyard.

Guy's Tower to the Courtyard

  • From Guy's Tower the route goes down a separate tight spiral staircase to the Courtyard.
  • The handrails are on the right going down.
  • There are over 50 steps.
  • Halfway down the staircase there is the Poitiers Room with an audio/visual presentation projected on the walls.
  • Once you have descended the stairs there are paths leading out to the courtyard.
  • One path has a steep winding slope.
  • The other path has steps with a handrail on the right going down.
