- The Core is a small refectory area in the Main Building that is on a single floor within the building.
The Main building also contains Tower Block, the Learning Resource Centre, Motor Vehicle Workshop and the Maritime and Offshore Centre. - There are no toilet facilities.

Getting Inside
- There are uneven surface on approach to the external entrance to the Core.
- There are five entrances into the Core, one external and four of which are internal from other parts of the Main Building.
The most accessible entrance is located inside the Learning Resource Centre and provides step-free level access via lift into the Core. This entrance has manual doors. - Only the external entrance into the Core has signage, which reads The Core, Accessible Route.
- The Learning Resource Centre lift entrance has level step-free access via a platform lift, leading to manual doors.

The external entrance into the Core has step-free access via a steep ramp and an automatic door.
There is a stepped entrance with no doors on approach from the Motor Vehicle Workshop and the Maritime and Offshore Centre.
There is stepped access into the Core from the Tower Block.
Access To (Learning Resource Centre to Core)
- Step-free access via lift from the Learning Resource Centre to the Core is located just inside the Learning Resource Centre main entrance.

- The most accessible route has step-free level access and a platform lift.
- There are 6 steps with a handrail on the left going up.
- The handrail is easy to grip.
- The handrail covers the flight of stairs throughout its length.

Lift (Learning Resource Centre lift entrance)

- The most accessible route to the lift has step-free level access and automatic doors.
- The lift has a level manoeuvring space in front of it for a wheelchair user (150cm x 150cm).
- The external lift control buttons have a high visual contrast.
- All of the external lift controls are at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
- The internal dimensions of the lift are 90cm (width) x 100cm (depth).
