Route to (Visitor Centre from Main Car Park Row E Blue Badge Bays)

  • From the Main Car Park Row E Blue Badge bays, cross the road to the dropped kerb.
    Continue ahead between the removable bollards, along the path.
    The bollards have a minimum width of 115cm between them.
    Turn right and continue ahead.
    The Visitor Centre is on the left.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are tarmac and paving stones.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.

Visitor Centre (Trentham Gardens Entrance)

  • Access into the area is via slight ramps/slopes.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The door is automatic, opens by sliding and has a low colour contrast with the surrounding walls.
  • The width of the door opening is 100cm.
  • There is step-free level access around the visitor centre.
  • The majority of aisle widths are over 150cm.
  • There is room for wheelchair users to manoeuvre (150cm x 150cm) within the majority of the visitor centre.
  • Some of the flooring is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to carpet.
  • Some of the flooring includes large repeating patterns in bold colours, which may look like steps or holes to some people.

  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.

  • There is a lever flush on the non transfer side.

  • The male and female standard toilets were surveyed.
  • The width of the widest cubicle door opening is 57cm.
  • The wash basin tap type is lever mixer.
  • Lighting levels are moderate to good.
  • There are hand dryers.

Parking (Trentham South Entrance Car Park)

  • This site has a car park.
  • This is an open air car park with a compacted gravel surface.
  • Parking is free for all users.
  • Maps and information boards are available.
  • Obstacles from the car park include: bollards with low colour contrast and no visual identification band, slopes/ramps and uneven surfaces.
  • There are not parent and child parking bays available.
  • There is not a designated drop-off point.
  • The Blue Badge parking is separate to the main area.
    The Blue Badge parking is accessed through the rear of the car park on the right hand side.
    Follow the track opposite signed as Blue Badge Parking Only, and continue down a sloping track to the Blue Badge parking on the right.
    There are no marked Blue Badge bays.

Route to (from South Entrance Car Park to South Entrance)

  • From the car park there is a slight slope to access the track leading to the South Entrance.
    From the Blue Badge parking, follow the sloped rough track back towards the car park and turn right to the entry point.
    The entry point from both has map boards either side.
    Bear left after the signs between the tree trunk bollards, which have minimum width of 190cm width between them.
    Follow the winding path downwards, which runs to the right of the café.
    The ticket counter is on the left and the entrance gate ahead.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are compact earth and gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (South)

  • The entrance surveyed is located adjacent to the café and ticket office.
  • There is step-free access via slope at the entrance.
  • The slight slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • Features not positioned at a suitable height for a wheelchair user include: the bell.
  • There is a single automatic gate which opens away from you.
  • The width of the opening is 120cm.
  • The gate is operated from within the ticket office.
    There is a bell to exit which is not positioned at a recommended height (above 120cm).

Counter (Ticket - South Entrance)

  • There is step-free level access to the counter.
  • The height of the counter is 86cm.
  • There is not a low level counter at a suitable height for a wheelchair user.
  • The counter has windows, TVs, glazed screens or mirrors which could adversely affect the ability of someone to lip read.
  • There is background noise here.
  • The counter does not have a hearing assistance system.
  • The counter is a window at the side of the entrance gate.
