Outdoor Spaces (Rivers of Grass and Floral Labyrinth)

  • This information is for the access point located after the footbridge from the Visitor Centre.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located along the path to the right after crossing the footbridge from the visitor centre.
    Alternatively, continue straight ahead from the footbridge and there is an entry point to the garden on the right.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens and gardens.
  • The outdoor facilities also include: picnic tables and bench seats.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: concrete or tarmac, wood bark, grass and gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are not wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around the area.
  • There are bench seats situated along the paths for people to rest.

Outdoor Spaces (Trentham Italian Gardens)

  • This information is for the access point located off the path on the north bank of the lake, just after the stone bridge.
  • Access into the area is via a steep ramp/slope.
  • The slope is over 150cm wide, with no handrails.
  • The access points to the area are located from the path which runs around the outside of the Italian Gardens.
  • There is open access at the surveyed access point.
  • The following outdoor facilities are available: formal gardens.
  • The outdoor spaces include the following surfaces: gravel.
  • Footpaths are available in all of the outdoor space.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is step-free level access around some of the area.
  • There are slight ramps/slopes without handrails, more than 3 steps without handrails and steep ramps/slopes without handrails in the main areas .
  • From the lakeside path there are slight slopes leading down into the sunken garden.
    From the paths on both sides of the garden there are steep slopes leading down into the sunken gardens.
    On the interior of the gardens there are slopes leading to some of the formal planting areas.
    At the rear of the gardens, leading towards the house there are steps to the lawns in front of the house.

Route to (The Tearooms)

  • From the Visitor Centre cross the footbridge.
    Continue over the 4-way junction and take the path on the north end of the lake.
    Cross the footbridge and continue along the lakeside path. The path widens.
    At the 4-way junction continue ahead up the path.
    The Tearoom is located on the right.
  • The route to the area is step-free via a slight ramp/slope and is step-free via a steep ramp/slope.
  • Path surfaces along the route are gravel and bonded gravel.
  • The majority of the paths are wide enough for wheelchair users.
  • There is no accessible shuttle to this area.

Entrance (The Tearooms)

  • The entrance surveyed is located at the front of the building.
  • There is step-free level access at the entrance.
  • There are double manual doors which are permanently open.
  • The width of the opening is 184cm.

Eating and Drinking (The Tearooms)

  • This is a café which serves hot and cold meals and snacks.
  • There is a counter where food and drink can be ordered and table service (on request only).
  • Staff can provide assistance and offer service to tables.
  • Menu types include: handheld menus.
  • Menus are easy to read (large clear font with contrasting colours).
  • The following are available here: drinking straws, takeaway cups, takeaway cutlery and a portable card machine for payment.
  • Lighting levels are varied.
  • There is background noise here.
  • There is not a hearing assistance system.

  • The door is manual, opens outwards and has a high colour contrast with the surrounding walls.

  • The dimensions of the cubicle are 180cm x 223cm and it has a turning space of at least 150cm x 150cm.
  • There is a lateral transfer space to the left of the seat but it is obstructed.
