Overview

Getting Inside

  • The approach to the building is step-free via slight slopes.
  • E and MRC - Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall and Music Research Centre has two entrances.
    The concert hall entrance provides step-free access (via a slight ramp) to the upper ground floor of the concert hall wing. There are two sets of double automatic doors at this entrance (one of which is permanently held open).
    The Music Research Centre entrance provides step-free access (via a slight ramp) to the first floor of the Music Research Centre. There are two sets of push-pad activated double automatic doors at this entrance, and a key fob/card is required to enter the building here (except when an event is taking place).
  • The entrances are signed as "Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall" and "The Sir Jack Lyons Music Research Centre - Concert Halls".
  • The concert hall entrance provides step-free access (via a slight ramp) to the upper ground floor of the concert hall wing.
  • The Music Research Centre entrance provides step-free access (via a slight ramp) to the first floor of the Music Research Centre.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free level access throughout the building on all floors, and to all floors via lift.
  • Floor surfaces along circulation routes consist of low pile carpet and shiny laminate, the latter of which is also patterned in some areas.
  • There are resting areas in some circulation and lobby areas with a mixture of seating.
  • Wall mounted wayfinding signage and on-door room signage is provided throughout the building.

    • Toilets with adaptations are located immediately to the left as you enter the building through the concert hall entrance, on the right hand side of the upper ground floor corridor containing the practice rooms, and on the first floor of the Music Research Centre, to the left as you enter the building through the Music Research Centre Entrance, on the right beyond the lift.
    • All toilets with adaptations have a right hand transfer space.
    • The male and female step-free toilet facilities are located in the concert hall wing, on the upper ground floor and upper first floor by the stairs, and on the first floor of the Music Research Centre, to the left as you enter the building through the Music Research Centre Entrance, on the right beyond the lift.
    • The male step-free toilet facilities are located immediately to the left as you enter the building through the concert hall entrance, on the right hand side of the upper ground floor corridor containing the practice rooms.
  • Changing Places and Changing Facilities View
    • Parent and baby changing facilities are located within the toilet with adaptations in the MRC.
  • Washroom and Shower Facilities View
    • Standard shower facilities are located immediately to the left as you enter the building through the concert hall entrance, on the right hand side of the upper ground floor corridor containing the practice rooms.

    • The car park is located off Wentworth Way, next to the University Road roundabout, opposite the Department of Philosophy.
