About Ards and North Down Borough Council
Located on the east coastline of Northern Ireland, there’s fascinating tales to discover about the history of Ards and North Down, as the centre of Ireland’s Christian heritage. The Christian Heritage Trail includes Bangor Abbey, St Columbanus Church of Ireland, North Down Museum, Grey Abbey, Movilla Abbey and Nendrum. There’s parks and gardens to explore, as well as 16 miles of North Down Coastal Path, stretching for Holywood to Portavoe – perfect for birdwatching and spotting seals. Rolling farmland is dotted with cosy village pubs serving feasts of delicious food. Close to Belfast is the seaside resort of Bangor, which is packed with attractions and activities for everyone to enjoy.

Ards and North Down Borough Council have six accredited changing places facilities.
These are located: 1 in Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex, 2 in Bangor Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex, 1 in Comber Leisure Centre, 1 at Groomsport Harbour and 1 at Strangford Bay Lodge.
Ards and North Down Borough Council in partnership with Mae Murray Foundation have created an Inclusive Beach at Groomsport. This consists of a range of beach chairs, walkers and personal care equipment designed so that everyone, including those with disabilities can enjoy a day at the beach.
