About Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council

Basingstoke has something for all visitors. From indulgent meals to adrenalin sports, theatre, concerts, a visit to 'Downton Abbey' or just the chance to explore, there are some great places to stay in the area, and plenty to see and do. Basingstoke’s rich heritage dates back beyond Roman times. These days the town has many modern attractions; a leisure park with ice skating, bowling, a swimming complex and cinema, a large shopping centre with over 200 shops, and a leading music venue hosting classical music, opera and live bands. Museums tell the story of Basingstoke’s history as a market town and major developer in the cloth industry.
