  • Section 1. Crossing College Street to The Cathedral.
  • Section 2. College Street to City Walls Road.
  • Section 3. Crossing City Walls Road.
  • Section 4. Sidbury to Commandery Road.
  • The route has some slight and some steep slopes along the way.
  • Pathway surfaces are concrete paving slabs and block paving and tarmac.
  • The pathways have some uneven sections, which include some raised manhole covers.
  • The road surfaces are tarmac, with dropped kerbs and tactile paving at most crossing points.
  • There are opportunities to sit and rest.

Crossing College Street, and Cathedral approach

  • There is a single crossing point at the far right of Cathedral Square, to cross to The Cathedral approach.
  • The crossing has dropped kerbs on both sides, with tactile paving on both sides.
  • The crossing is push button controlled, with visual, audio, and tactile signals.
  • The route to the Cathedral entrance is relatively level.
  • The pathways are block and slab paving.
  • The surface of the road at the crossing is tarmac.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement on the Cathedral side such as bollards, bins, street furniture and signboards.

College Street - City Walls Road

  • The pathways in this section are formed of paving slabs.
  • The pathway has a guard rail to the right, when heading away from Cathedral Square .
  • There is a downhill slope running down College Street, from Cathedral Square.
  • There are some uneven areas on the pathways throughout this section.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement such as, railings, bins and signboards.
  • There is a single side road, (Friar Street) to cross along this section, it has dropped kerbs, with tactile paving.
  • There is a seating bench at the City Walls Road crossing point.

Crossing City Walls Road

  • City Walls road is a busy dual carriageway.
  • It is a staggered 2 stage crossing, with a central island.
  • The crossings have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The crossings are push button controlled with visual, audible and tactile signals.
  • The pathways are tarmac and concrete.
  • The surface of the road at all crossings is tarmac.
  • There are railings on both pavements leading to the crossing.

Sidbury - The Commandery

  • The pathways in this section are formed of tarmac/block paving.
  • The pathway is narrow in places.
  • There is a slight downhill slope running along Sidbury, towards the Commandery.
  • There are some uneven areas on the pathways throughout this section.
  • There are some obstructions along the pavement such as, railings, bollards and signboards.

Crossing Sidbury to Commandery Road Car Park

  • The crossing of Sidbury to arrive at Commandery Road Car Park is approximately 20m beyond The Commandery Museum.
  • At this point Sidbury becomes The London Road and is no longer dual carriageway.
  • There is a central island between the north and south bound traffic flows.
  • The crossings have dropped kerbs and tactile paving on both sides.
  • The crossings are push button controlled, with visual and tactile signals.
  • The pathways are tarmac and concrete.

  • Many cafes and shops have toilets but they may not be accessible.
