  • Water bowls for assistance dogs are available.
  • There are mobility aids available.
  • The mobility aids available include wheelchairs.
  • To obtain mobility aids please contact the gatehouse, your car keys or driver's licence will be securely held as a deposit for the duration of your visit. The wheelchair is not motorised. We recommend calling in advance to pre-book the wheelchair on 01303 264 647.
  • There is not a designated place of safety which can be used by people who may feel scared or at risk.
  • Animal experiences Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality, and health and safety, this cannot always be achieved; please contact the venue for advice on 01303 264 647 before booking.
  • If you require advice or assistance on your visit please call the venue on 01303 234 112.
  • As parts of Port Lympne are quite steep, they offer reduced admission for disabled guests and have selected routes for wheelchairs. Please ask for advice. This discount is not available with online tickets. One free carer will be admitted with a disabled guest when purchasing a day ticket or the carer can purchase a concessionary annual pass which can be passed to any carer who accompanies the disabled person on any visit. One free carer will be admitted for a single day visit when a disabled guest purchases a concessionary day ticket or membership. Concession and registered carer tickets can be purchased at the gatehouse when you arrive at Port Lympne.

Getting Around

  • There is step-free access, via ramps, throughout the majority of the building.
  • There are bench seats available throughout the building.
  • Some flooring in the area is smooth and even.
  • Where the flooring is not smooth or even, this is due to unsurfaced paths, grass, gravel and loose chippings.
  • There are staff vehicles which can be used to provide assistance for overcoming the steep slopes.

Safari's

  • The Safari pick-up point is located next to the Basecamp Café.
  • There is a slope located on the queue.
  • There are some safari trucks which have been adapted to accommodate wheelchairs.
  • There is a platform lift at the rear of these trucks.
  • There is space on the trucks for 1 wheelchair.
  • Please ask at the gatehouse for more information about when these trucks are in use during the day and they will book your safari time on specific adapted truck safaris.
  • Prams, buggies, and pushchairs are not permitted on the safari trucks; however, there is a covered area at Basecamp where prams and pushchairs can be left.
  • Items are left at visitors' own risk. Port Lympne Reserve does not accept responsibility for loss or damage of unattended wheelchairs and pushchairs.

General Enclosures (Basecamp and Mansion Area)

  • The types of animal enclosures in this area are outdoor enclosures.
  • There is step-free level access to Lions and tigers.
  • The enclosures with slight ramped/sloped access include: Wallaby walk, clouded leopard, and howler monkey.
  • The enclosures with information boards available are all of the enclosures.
  • All enclosures have a floor level viewing area.

Concierge

  • The concierge building is located near to the Mansion Hotel.
  • There is a long slope leading down to this area.
  • There is a steep slope at the entrance.
  • There are two sets of double doors, both of which are held open.
  • There are two counters within the concierge; one for Safari and Encounters and one for concierge.
  • Both counters are 103cm high.
  • There is a seating area next to the counters.

Ramp or Slope (Eastern Path via Rhino Walk)

  • The slope is steep .
  • The steep slope leads down from the Basecamp at the top of the reserve to the Carnivore Territory. The slope passes a number of enclosures including the Rhino Walk. There is bench seating in places.

Ramp or Slope (Western Path via the Primate Trail)

  • The slope is steep .
  • The slope leads down from the Palace of the Apes to the Carnivore Territory. The slope passes a number of enclosures including the Primate Trail. There is a bench seating located along the path.

General Enclosures (Central Area)

  • The types of animal enclosures in this area are outdoor enclosures.
  • There is step-free level access to Guinea Baboon, Colobus Monkey, De Bazza's Monkey, Binturong, Wallaby, Dusky Langur, and Capuchin Monkeys.
  • The enclosures with steep ramped/sloped access include: Gorilla Pavilion, Lemur, Red River Hog, and Guinea Baboon.
  • The enclosures with information boards available are all of the enclosures.
  • All enclosures have a floor level viewing area.

General Enclosures (Western Area)

  • The types of animal enclosures in this area are outdoor enclosures.
  • The enclosures with steep ramped/sloped access include: all of the enclosures.
  • The enclosures with information boards available are all of the enclosures.
  • The enclosures with low level viewing areas include: all of the enclosures.
  • All enclosures have a floor level viewing area.
